Sr. Systems Administrator LOCATION: Charlotte, NC - Uptown - Schedule: 5 days per week onsite
Travel: Up to 30% to company offices and remote sites
WHAT YOU WILL DO - Manage and maintain the company`s IT infrastructure across servers, networks, cloud environments, mobile devices, and critical business systems
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues while helping ensure system reliability, security, compliance, and performance across multiple company locations
- Oversee and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, VMware, cloud environments, and on-prem VM infrastructure
- Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and system availability initiatives
- Monitor and optimize network performance, access control, security, and uptime across multiple sites
- Provide Tier 3 support for escalated infrastructure, server, network, and systems-related issues
- Travel to company locations and field sites to support infrastructure upgrades, equipment setup, assessments, and onsite issue resolution
- Support cybersecurity initiatives including firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection, vulnerability scanning, audits, and risk assessments
- Help maintain SOC 2 compliance standards and ensure IT systems align with regulatory/security expectations
- Lead or contribute to infrastructure projects, cloud migrations, technology rollouts, and process improvements
- Maintain documentation around system configurations, procedures, changes, security risks, and project status
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS - 5+ years of experience in systems administration with strong server, network, and infrastructure ownership
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, VMware, and cloud environments such as Azure or AWS
- Experience supporting multi-site environments, remote locations, or field-service-style operations
- Strong understanding of networking, firewalls, security best practices, access control, and infrastructure monitoring
- Experience with backups, disaster recovery planning, vulnerability management, and data security
- Ability to serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues
- Comfortable working onsite 5 days per week in Charlotte, with travel up to 30%
- Strong documentation, communication, and project execution skills
- Certifications such as MCSE, VCP, CCNA, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are a plus
- Experience with SOC 2 Type 2, cybersecurity frameworks, or environmentally focused/field services organizations is a plus
