JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for all aspects of supplier quality for a global supply base, working with purchasing, technology, quality and manufacturing to qualify and develop suppliers as well as resolve supplier quality issues through teamwork, auditing, process improvement and other quality tools.

What You'll Do:

Supplier Quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to qualify new suppliers and new products to production, according to developed standards; ensure products and processes comply with the requirements of the Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to construct and implement test plans for qualifying new suppliers, products and equipment; detail requirements for machine acceptance runs, Viega Production Approval Process (VPAP) and Supplier Production Approval Process (SPAP); develop ongoing inspection plans for incoming goods and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct supplier audits and visits to resolve issues, drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement
  • Implement, evaluate, follow up and assist with Supplier Corrective Actions Requests (SCARs)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor, analyze and report on supplier performance. Lead and support supplier quality improvement teams
  • Establish, implement and maintain QMS procedures, documents, work instructions, plant standards and control plans both internally and with suppliers; follow-up to ensure processes and timelines are followed.
  • Conduct research and continually develop knowledge of Viega products and systems, including applicable applications, listings and standards.
  • Work with Purchasing to develop positive relationships and effective lines of communication with suppliers: Partnership-oriented arrangements.
  • Support improvement workshops and initiatives to improve products and processes and reduce costs
  • Assist suppliers with implementing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other quality improvement tools.


Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Continue to develop knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma project methodologies including but not limited to DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyst, Improve, Control), DMADV (Define Measure, Analyze, Design, Verify), QFD (Quality Function Deployment, FMEA (Failure Modes Effects Analysis), APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), Value stream/process mapping, associated statistical analysis and supplier development.
  • Attend ASQ and continuing education training in order to continually develop quality tools, techniques and systems.

  • Attends meetings as required and/or assigned.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned

Total Rewards Package:

Compensation
  • Base: $76,000 - $99,000 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
  • Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
