Responsibilities
- Provide departmental support and supervise the staff in the Ocean Impor/Export department.
- Supervise and oversee daily import/export operations, including customs clearance, shipping documentation, cargo movement, customer service, and regulatory compliance.
Lead and manage Team Leaders and operational staff to ensure accurate and timely execution of all shipment activities.
Monitor departmental workload, staffing levels, and operational performance to maintain service standards and productivity goals.
- Manage escalations involving customers, carriers, vendors, customs issues, service failures, delays, claims, or operational exceptions.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, FMC requirements, DOT regulations, TSA requirements, and other applicable transportation and trade compliance standards.
- Review and approve operational procedures, SOPs, and workflow processes to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, accuracy, and profitability.
- Support business development efforts by assisting with customer onboarding, operational implementation, and account retention.
- Conduct employee coaching, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and career development planning.
- Ensure proper communication and coordination between customers, overseas offices, carriers, warehouses, truckers, brokers, and internal departments.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including shipment accuracy, billing accuracy, cargo release timing, productivity, and customer service metrics
Assist management with budgeting, forecasting, operational reporting, and departmental planning.
- Maintain a positive and professional work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Salary Pay Range: $70,304.00 - 90,000.00 Yearly
This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At NEU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

- Minimum 3+ years of Ocean Import experience with previous experience in a Team Lead or Supervisory position

- High school diploma or equivalency certificate or significant or relevant or appropriate working experience
Organization Relationships:
This position will interact with branch colleagues, leadership staff, and office /warehouse personnel. Must be able to work with customers, vendors, and outside organizations.
Work Environment:
