Full Job Description
JC Residential and Light Commercial LLC seeks Sr Staff Engineer Heat Pumps and Advanced Systems (Multiple Positions) at its facility located at 3110 N Mead St., Wichita, KS 67219. Leverage Vapor injection, Remote Viewer, and Variable Capacity Control. Work on reducing the global warming potential of heat pumps and air conditioning by optimizing the system at component and control level and utilizing low global warming potential refrigerant. Work with the Residential Heat Pump and Advance Technology team. Work and collaborate with other cross functional disciplines such as Product Management, Plant Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Field Service and PMO (Project Management Office) to develop and launch new products. Support these products and others in production to provide optimal customer satisfaction. Follow established safety procedures and use the required personal protection equipment. Complete projects in a timely and efficient manner to ensure that improvement objectives are met. Create and develop system concepts, product information using information provided by development team members and legacy products adhering to current agency and regulatory requirements. Plan and implement processes, systems and procedures to complete assignments utilizing standard and local engineering practices and principles. Identify, investigate, and recommend improvements in products, systems of processes to improve application, efficiency or application. Conduct system analysis and experimentation to assess application, feasibility of design and explore alternatives. Develop working prototypes, detailed plans, test outlines, procedures, and execute tests for industry to meet agency or regulatory compliance. Create project plans and schedules to meet or optimize the required development timeline. Perform actions to balance implementation, schedule, cost, and resource constraints and make recommendations to team. Provide technical direction and guidance to engineers, designers, model makers, technicians, and/or programmers to ensure timely implementation of improvement proposals. Implement viable proposals according to the assigned priority using the engineering change process. Track and report progress on key metrics such as cost, reliability, and warranty improvements to internal customers, external customers, and upper management. REQS: This position requires a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and eight (8) years of experience as a Design Engineer, Product Engineer, or related occupation working with HVAC system design in a manufacturing or related industry. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Design of variable speed compression systems and inverter technology; (2) Utilizing HVAC equipment including combinations of air handlers, indoor coils, condensing units, heat pumps, and their associated components; (3) Following industry standards including AHRI, ASHRAE, DOE, EPA, NEC, UL, and CSA; (4) HVAC unit wiring, algorithm development, and instrumentation; (5) Vapor injection refrigeration system designs and algorithm development; and (6) Utilizing FMEAs for product lifecycle design.
