--Help shape how data is governed, protected, and trusted by designing the policies, controls, and monitoring frameworks that enable responsible business growth and innovation.What will your typical day look like?Due to the nature of the role having interactions with National & Global clients, English is required for this position.As a Senior Specialist, Data Governance Policy + Assurance, you will play a key role in strengthening data governance capabilities through the design, monitoring, and continual improvement of data governance controls, standards, and metrics.
In this role, you will:
- Support the design and modernization of enterprise data governance policies, frameworks, standards, controls, and supporting procedures, including the data policy inventory process
- Coordinate data governance program monitoring, including key performance indicators (KPIs), risk indicators, and compliance reporting.
- Support the production of data governance reporting, dashboards, metrics, and evidence to support leadership, audit, regulatory, and assurance requirements
- Monitor industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments to ensure governance practices remain current and effective.
- Advise stakeholders on data governance requirements across the data lifecycle, from creation and use through retention and disposal.
- Support governance forums, working groups, and stakeholder engagement activities across the enterprise.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business and technology teams, helping translate policy requirements into practical governance outcomes
About the teamThis role is part of Deloitte's Data Risk and Trust team within the Regulatory, Quality, Risk & Reputation (RQRR) function. We are a diverse team of professionals specializing in AI governance, data governance, privacy and confidentiality, and information and records management. Together, we help ensure Deloitte's data is trusted, protected, discoverable, and ready to support innovation and informed decision-making.
Enough about us, let's talk about youYou are someone with these required skills:
- 3+ years of experience in data governance, information governance, records management, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, policies, standards, controls, and operating models.
- Experience designing, documenting, monitoring, and assessing data governance controls and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of data governance concepts including data quality, metadata, classification, retention, access management, stewardship, and data lifecycle management.
- Experience developing data governance metrics, dashboards, KPIs, and reporting for senior leadership and governance bodies.
- Ability to evaluate control effectiveness, identify risks and gaps, and recommend practical remediation actions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data governance requirements in clear business terms.
- Experience collaborating across multiple stakeholder groups in a complex enterprise environment.
It would be great for you to have some of these nice-to-haves as well:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information/ Data Management, Data & Analytics, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Library and Information Science, Technology Management, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications from recognized industry associations (e.g. DCAM, DAMA, IAPP, ARMA, or AIIM.)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica, AvePoint, ServiceNow, and/or similar governance and compliance platforms.
- Familiarity with AI governance, responsible AI, privacy, and data lifecycle management practices.
- Understanding of governance and control frameworks such as DCAM, DAMA-DMBOK, NIST, and ISO.
- Experience supporting audits, regulatory reviews, or compliance assessments.
Total RewardsThe salary range for this position is $69,000 - $114,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
