Role Summary

In this role, you will design, develop, modify, adapt, and implement technology solutions that support the Investments Technology – Equity team. You will work across the full stack to build scalable, reliable applications and services using technologies such as Java, Python, React, and JavaScript. You will partner closely with investment professionals, product owners, and technology colleagues to interpret business needs, review system requirements, code, test, debug, and implement software solutions. You will also bring curiosity and practical exposure to artificial intelligence, exploring how AI-enabled tools and capabilities can improve engineering practices, investment workflows, and user experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Performing as a domain expert in one or more parts of the software lifecycle, including full stack application development, API design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support. Leads significant pieces of development within the development lifecycle
  • Contributing to the development of standard methodologies within your group, including modern engineering practices, reusable components, automated testing, and responsible experimentation with AI-enabled development tools
  • Leading code reviews and actively participates in providing feedback on others’ designs/code
  • Designing and delivering user-facing features, back-end services, and integration layers using Java, Python, React, JavaScript, and related frameworks
  • Partnering with Equity investment teams to understand workflows, data needs, and business priorities, then translating those needs into effective technology solutions
  • Exploring practical AI use cases, tools, and engineering patterns that can enhance developer productivity, decision support, automation, and the overall user experience
  • Being accountable for technical debt in your own software
  • Leading a small project team, as required
  • Taking control of complex problems and step through them in a rational way
  • Making tactical vs. strategic trade-offs
  • Being flexible in your thinking; able to evolve a solution when additional information or ideas are presented

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and typically requires 5+ years of progressive experience
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in your job discipline and working knowledge of related disciplines
  • Stays up to date with emerging technologies, including modern full stack development practices, cloud-native patterns, and artificial intelligence trends relevant to investment technology
  • Programs proficiently in multiple languages and frameworks, with hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of languages such as:  Java, Python, React, JavaScript, and related full stack technologies
  • Demonstrates curiosity about AI and exposure to AI concepts, tools, or platforms, with interest in applying them responsibly to improve software delivery, automation, and investment workflows
  • Shows dedication to quality by implementing suitable software using unit/integration and acceptance testing at the time of feature development
  • Develops data models or schemas from scratch and knows of key concepts such as ACID, Normalization, and Transactions
  • Debugs large components with limited assistance and assists other engineers
  • Designs and develops practical APIs and abstractions.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting Equity, investment management, asset management, capital markets, wealth management, or other front-office financial services technology environments.

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to three days per week from home.

    Base Salary Ranges

    $121,000.00 - $206,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers
    $133,000.00 - $227,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.
    $151,000.00 - $258,000.00 for the location of: New York, California

    Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role.  Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.  Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
