Position Summary (Why this role matters):The Senior Software Engineer serves as the technical owner of features assigned to their team and acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) of these features into the future. They lead design sessions and work closely with the architects to ensure the design fits within the overall architectural vision of the Edison application and its components. The Senior Software Engineer drives development within their team, performs code reviews, and ensures all work is completed following the HistoSonics software development process. The role mentors junior engineers, provides technical input into build-versus-buy and partner-selection decisions, and investigates customer complaints in their areas of expertise.
Key Responsibilities (What you'll do):- Design, document, and implement the software components that comprise the Edison application and its components
- Work with a cross-functional team on identifying requirements, risks and effective risk mitigation measures
- Work with other senior software team members on identifying optimal architectural and design solutions
- Provide technical leadership for projects
- Own and sign off on software project deliverables
- Participate as a SME in audits
- Investigate customer complaints in areas of expertise
- Ensure all applicable tasks are performed in compliance with the Quality Management System
- Participate in continuous improvement of the Quality System and software development procedures
- Provide recommendations for the technologies, components, and tools used
- Set the standard in code reviews
- Mentor junior engineers on software engineering best practices, sharing expertise and raising the technical bar within the team
- Provide technical input into roadmap and prioritization decisions for work in the team's backlog, both current and future
- Other duties as assigned by Software Manager
Qualifications and Skills: - Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Math, or Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience working in software development for medical devices
- Software development experience with C/C++/C#
- Experience with different operating systems with emphasis on Microsoft Windows
- Experience with source-code control systems
- Experience with applicable FDA regulations and ISO standards
- An approachable mentor who is viewed as an expert and acts like one
- Constructively challenge assumptions
- Mentor and guide less senior engineers to sound solutions while encouraging collaboration
- Ability to properly prioritize multiple tasks/projects
- Must be detail oriented and analytical
- Must be team-oriented and motivated with the ability to self-manage, learn quickly, and maintain successful interdisciplinary relationships
- Track record of owning a technical domain and driving design decisions
- Approximately 10% domestic travel.
