Position SummaryThis position is responsible for the design, development and implementation of complete software components. Designs, develops and maintains high-quality code for complex product components. Manages assigned projects independently and may serve as technical expert for issues associated with specific projects. May assist Principal, Sr. Principal and Architects to detail certain aspects of product design.
Primary Responsibilities- Leads development of code and integration of complex components into a fully functional system, including leading the process of documenting and maintaining architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs.
- Drives ongoing efficiency and reliability improvements through design and automation (availability, performance, scaling, monitoring, and capacity).
- Partners with product management discuss and define requirements and acceptance criteria; identifies and proposes process improvements to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.
- Guides, mentors, and provides technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers to deliver well-tested, observable, documented, efficient, scalable, and resilient solutions.
- Represents the team in cross-organizational engineering meetings.
- Performs technical analysis to define design requirements for modifications to existing tools, utilities, system structures, and environments.
- Collaborates with principal engineers and management to define project scope, technical design methodologies, processes, standards, and estimation activities.
- Consistently meets commitments and project milestones.
- Assists in driving and delivering impactful customer-facing solutions.
- Participates in the team's hiring and onboarding processes.
- Conduct technical presentations.
- Upholds F5's Business Code of Ethics.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong development experience in multiple high-level languages, ability to determine the right language for the design (Go and Python highly preferred; Bash scripting required).
- Working knowledge of networking concepts and the OSI model.
- Experience using Linux.
- Practical experience using Docker, Docker Compose, and containerized development workflows.
- Working knowledge of modern version control, Git/GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and modern IDEs (e.g., VS Code, GoLand).
- Experience interfacing with system hardware and firmware interfaces.
- Hands-on experience using generative AI interactively to optimize coding, streamline software development workflows, and leverage multi-agent system paradigms.
- Understanding of secure end-to-end software development life cycle.
- Duties are performed in a normal office or remote home-office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
- Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over phone/video channels, and read technical and printed material.
Minimum Qualifications- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or similar field or 7+ years equivalent professional experience in enterprise product development.
- Strong experience in multiple high-level coding languages: GoLang and Python highly preferred, C/C++ or other languages desired.
- Ability to collaborate, adapt, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance team environment.
- Proven track record of guiding, mentoring, and providing technical leadership to other software developers.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on driving continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Demonstrated excellence in both written and verbal communication.

The annual base pay for this position is: $179,500.00 - $269,300.00
