Full Job Description
This role is ideal for someone who lives and breathes social, a hands-on creator and editor who understands what performs on each platform and knows how to translate brand, influencer, and creator content into high-impact, social-first formats. You're not just managing calendars, you're in the platforms daily, creating, editing, engaging, and spotting what's next.
You'll play a key role in how Shutterfly shows up across key social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, balancing always-on content, campaign moments, real-time trends, and community engagement.

If you're someone who instinctively knows what makes content stop the scroll-and how to turn a comment into a conversation-you'll thrive here.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Organic Social Execution & Content Development
• Own day-to-day execution of organic social strategies for Shutterfly and Snapfish on priority channels such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Plan, manage, and execute social media editorial calendars that balance campaign moments, evergreen storytelling, reactive content, and platform trends.
• Create, edit, and publish social-first content-including short-form video, static posts, captions, and light motion-optimized for each platform's native formats and best practices.
• Adapt and extend brand, influencer, and creator assets into organic-first executions (e.g., cutdowns, remixes, trend-forward edits, caption rewrites).
• Develop social content concepts and executions that drive reach, engagement, and relevance, particularly in short-form video environments.
• Manage content publishing through Sprout Social, including asset selection, caption writing, tagging, link strategy, and scheduling.
• Partner closely with Creative, Brand, Influencer, Ecommerce, Merchandising, and Customer Service teams to align social execution with business priorities and launch moments.
• Write clear social briefs and manage content through review and approval workflows, ensuring alignment with brand and legal standards (as needed.)
• Optimize social profiles, captions, hashtags, and metadata to increase discoverability and performance.

Trend Spotting and Real-time Content Execution
• Stay deeply immersed in social culture to identify brand-right trends, emerging content formats, and relevant cultural moments.
• Proactively surface opportunities for Shutterfly to participate in trending conversations in a way that feels timely, authentic, and platform native.
• Execute fast-turn, newsroom-style content creation, developing and publishing reactive content quickly to capitalize on moments before they pass.
• Test and iterate on new formats, hooks, and storytelling approaches based on real-time performance and platform shifts.

Community Engagement (and Beyond)
• Actively manage day-to-day community engagement across platforms, including:
o Responding to comments on brand-owned content
o Engaging with posts where the brand is tagged or mentioned
• Monitor and participate in relevant external conversations where the brand is not yet present but has a credible and valuable voice.
• Identify opportunities to treat comments as content. Engage in ways that drive visibility, conversation, and brand personality within feeds and comment sections.
• Engage with and source UGC opportunities, supporting basic rights requests and coordination with internal teams.
• Partner with Customer Service and cross-functional teams to escalate issues and ensure consistent, on-brand responses.

Performance Optimization
• Track organic social performance to identify what is resonating with audiences. Use data to drive actions and next steps.
• Compile and share performance insights, content learnings, and testing results with stakeholders.
• Support light boosting efforts as needed, including coordination and basic tracking in partnership with paid teams.

Minimum Requirements:
• 3-5 years of social media, digital marketing, or content-focused roles.
• BS degree in Communication, Marketing or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proven experience managing and executing organic social content for consumer-facing brands.
• Strong experience creating and editing short-form social content.
• Familiarity with social publishing and analytics tools such as Sprout Social and Power BI.
• Experience working with design and editing tools (i.e. Canva, native platform tools)

Other (knowledge, skills, and abilities):
• Deep understanding of social media culture, trends, and platform behaviors.
• Strong creative instincts with the ability to translate ideas into social-first executions.
• Excellent writing skills, particularly for captions, hooks, and short-form storytelling.
• Highly organized self-starter who can manage multiple content streams and deadlines.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and enthusiastic about evolving social platforms and formats.
• Familiarity with AI tools for content ideation, caption drafting, and workflow efficiency, with the ability to apply them thoughtfully while maintaining strong creative judgment and brand voice.
