Working Pattern: Fulltime

Working Location: Novi, MI

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SAP Logistics Consultant with expert-level proficiency in SAP S/4HANA Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and SAP ECC Warehouse Management (WM). In this role, you will lead end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of complex warehouse processes within intensive manufacturing and distribution environments. You will act as the primary SME for automated material handling integrations-specifically Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) and Material Flow Systems (MFS)-bridging the gap between core SAP supply chain modules, shop-floor automation, and physical logistics operations.

What you will be doing

  • Lead full lifecycle implementations, rollouts, and migration projects from legacy SAP ECC WM to S/4HANA Embedded EWM (or Decentralized EWM).
  • Design, configure, and optimize complex inbound, outbound, internal production staging (PP-WM/EWM integration), physical inventory, and cross-docking processes.
  • Translate complex manufacturing and logistics operational requirements into scalable, standard SAP architectural designs.
  • Lead technical and functional integration of SAP EWM-MFS with automated warehouse technology, including ASRS, AGVs, conveyers, sorters, and high-bay storage.
  • Define interface architecture and mapping between SAP EWM and 3rd-party PLC / WCS / WMS platforms via IDocs, Web Services (REST/SOAP), and TCP/IP sockets.
  • Drive seamless integration across adjacent SAP modules: PP (Production Planning), QM (Quality Management), MM (Materials Management), SD (Sales & Distribution), and TM (Transportation Management).
  • Design shop-floor execution interfaces (RF framework, mobile devices, custom screens) to streamline operator execution.
  • Conduct deep-dive functional workshops with plant leadership, supply chain directors, and warehouse managers to redesign physical workflows.
  • Provide escalation support for critical production issues within high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Write comprehensive functional specifications (FS) for custom enhancements (BAdIs, user exits), custom RF transactions, standard reports, and complex interfaces.

Basic Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Engineering or Business, and 7 years of applicable experience in hands-on SAP functional configuration experience across SAP ECC WM and SAP S/4HANA EWM. OR;
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Engineering or Business, and 5 years of applicable experience in hands-on SAP functional configuration experience across SAP ECC WM and SAP S/4HANA EWM. OR;
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Engineering or Business, and 3 years of applicable experience in hands-on SAP functional configuration experience across SAP ECC WM and SAP S/4HANA EWM. OR;
  • PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Engineering or Business
  • In lieu of a degree, 9+ years of applicable experience in hands-on SAP functional configuration experience across SAP ECC WM and SAP S/4HANA EWM.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 full-lifecycle end-to-end SAP EWM implementations in complex manufacturing or distribution facilities.
  • Proven experience configuring SAP EWM MFS and managing direct integration with ASRS systems, automated conveyors, and PLC/WCS interfaces.
  • Deep operational understanding of shop-floor staging (e.g., Kitting, Kanban, Just-In-Time/Just-In-Sequence), inbound receiving against POs/Inbound Deliveries, and outbound production supply strategies.
  • Proficiency in ABAP debugging, IDoc processing, RFCs, Web Services, and troubleshooting EWM RF framework processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Official SAP Certification in SAP S/4HANA Extended Warehouse Management.
  • Hands-on experience executing migration projects transitioning legacy ECC WM systems to S/4HANA EWM (Stock Room Management or Advanced EWM).
  • Solid grasp of industrial communications protocols (e.g., OPC UA, TCP/IP) used in smart factory and Industry 4.0 environments.
