Full Job Description
Summary

CHS, Inc. has an exciting opportunity to join the Supply Chain Planning & Scheduling organization as a Senior S&OP Planner supporting the Animal Nutrition product line.

This role serves as the demand and supply planning lead for Animal Nutrition, translating commercial demand into executable supply, inventory, capacity, procurement, and transportation plans across a complex manufacturing network. The position leads key elements of the S&OP process, develops planning scenarios, identifies supply chain constraints, and provides insights that improve service, asset utilization, inventory performance, and business results.

Animal Nutrition is actively building and maturing its planning capabilities, including One Number Plan governance, demand planning, RCCP, inventory planning, scenario analysis, and demand-versus-capacity balancing. The role is responsible for developing and sustaining the planning processes, analytical tools, reporting, governance, and decision-support capabilities needed to support continued business growth and planning maturity. The role works closely with Commercial, Operations, Procurement, Transportation, Finance, Inventory Planning, and Plant Leadership to improve planning quality, strengthen decision making, and connect long-range plans with operational execution.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver stronger results by improving our supply chain through leadership of the Animal Nutrition supply planning process within the CHS S&OP framework, including demand and supply reviews, scenario development, exception management, and decision support.
  • Improve forecast quality by measuring, analyzing, and acting on forecast accuracy, bias, attainment, variability, assumptions, and exceptions.
  • Translate consensus demand into executable supply, inventory, capacity, procurement, transportation, and operational requirements across the network.
  • Lead Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP), supply balancing, inventory planning, and network analysis; identify constraints, risks, and demand-versus-capacity gaps early enough to act.
  • Build scenarios for growth, seasonality, inventory strategy, network balancing, capacity changes, and customer demand shifts; convert analysis into clear recommendations and tradeoffs.
  • Design, build, implement, and continuously improve planning tools, analytical models, dashboards, reporting, and decision-support capabilities.
  • Design and improve planning processes, governance, decision rights, standard work, escalation paths, and cross-functional handoffs.
  • Work across CHS to accomplish more than we can alone by partnering and driving alignment with Commercial, Procurement, Operations, Transportation, Finance, Inventory Planning, and Plant Leadership to align assumptions, evaluate tradeoffs, and support business decisions.
  • Ensure plans are executable by incorporating manufacturing, scheduling, packaging, ingredient, inventory, storage, transportation, and customer-delivery constraints.
  • Build sustainable planning capability by standardizing methods, reducing dependence on individual knowledge, and coaching planners and cross-functional partners.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 7+ years of experience in supply planning, demand planning, S&OP, Integrated Business Planning (IBP), manufacturing planning, or related supply chain roles.

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in demand and supply planning, inventory management, capacity planning, RCCP, scenario modeling, and planning-to-execution integration.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, implementing, and sustaining planning processes, analytical tools, models, dashboards, governance frameworks, or decision-support capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex planning initiatives across multiple functions, influence business decisions without direct authority, and work independently through ambiguity.
  • Experience supporting an S&OP build-out, planning transformation, planning maturity initiative, or operating-model improvement.
  • Experience connecting supply planning and S&OP with detailed scheduling, manufacturing operations, procurement, logistics, transportation, inventory management, order fulfillment, or customer delivery.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring planners, analysts, or cross-functional business partners.
  • Experience in a multi-plant manufacturing environment with a mix of make-to-order and make-to-stock products, packaged and bulk formats, seasonal demand patterns, and material, capacity, or transportation constraints.
  • Advanced analytical and building capability using Power BI, Excel, and supply chain data tools to develop planning models, reporting, and decision-support capabilities. Experience with SAP, SAP IBP, FirstShift, or comparable ERP and planning platforms.
  • Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and FMCSA Clearinghouse
