Sr Revenue Accounting Associate

Functional area: Finance / Controlling
Remuneration: Exempt

The Sr Revenue Accounting Associate is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely recognition of revenue, with a particular focus on compliance with ASC 606 and specialized areas such as production tax credits and incentive-based revenue. This role supports all aspects of revenue accounting, including billing, collections, account reconciliations, and audit preparation, to maintain the integrity of financial reporting. The Senior Revenue Accountant collaborates with internal teams, interprets complex contracts, and drives process improvements, supporting the company's commitment to transparency and regulatory compliance within the renewable energy industry.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Apply ASC 606 revenue recognition principles to ensure compliance
  • Prepare and post revenue-related journal entries and assist with monthly close process
  • Perform reconciliations for accounts receivable, unbilled revenue, and deferred revenue
  • Support invoicing processes for reoccurring and usage-based billing to ensure accurate revenue recognition
  • Generate and analyze accounts receivable aging reports and support follow-up efforts with collections
  • Prepare documentation and support for audits and quarterly reviews conducted by internal and external auditors
  • Assist in managing production tax credits (PTCs) revenue recognition and reconciliation
  • Assist in managing royalty calculations and incentive-based revenue/expense recognition and reconciliation
  • Prepare quarterly and yearly month-end reporting
  • Support team members with day-to-day tasks, as needed
  • Interpret contracts and determine appropriate accounting treatment under ASC 606
  • Maintain clear and accurate process documentation to support audit readiness, compliance, and consistency across revenue accounting tasks
  • Collaborate with internal departments to validate revenue terms
  • Drives deadline-sensitive initiatives like accruals and reconciliations
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders to resolve issues and align on expectations
  • Provide support for special projects, as appropriate


Job Requirements and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or other related discipline required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in accounting, finance or related field is preferred, with an emphasis on candidates who have successfully performed account reconciliations
  • Must be a self-starting & motivated individual who is able to quickly pick up on new systems and effectively manage deadlines
  • Prior experience in the energy market is highly preferred
  • SAP & PCI experience is strongly preferred
  • Actively contributes to process improvement initiatives
  • Performs accounts receivable (AR) analysis and related tasks as required
  • Maintains process documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data to generate insights
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter who is goal-oriented and proactive
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the company and the renewables energy industry
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with an ability to meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with strong business acumen and a sound understanding of business concepts

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois or New York is $95,000 - $125,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations.
