Position Summary:The Senior Revenue Accountant serves as a subject matter expert for revenue accounting, handling highly complex transactions, leading compliance initiatives, and advising management on process improvements. This role also acts as a mentor for less experienced accountants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversee month-end revenue close including purchaser reconciliation, revenue distribution, and variance analysis.
- Manage division order setup, maintenance, and title curative coordination with the land department.
- Review and approve royalty and severance tax filings across all operating states.
- Assist with suspense accounts including research, release, and escheatment compliance.
- Resolve complex ownership disputes and work directly with royalty owners and working interest partners to address inquiries.
- Serve as primary liaison during revenue audits and regulatory reviews.
- Identify and implement process improvements within the revenue accounting function.
- Mentor and develop junior revenue accounting staff.
Qualifications:Required:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 6+ years of revenue accounting experience in oil and gas industry with demonstrated technical expertise.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance and industry practices.
- Experience with division orders and royalty owner relations.
- Familiarity with state-specific severance tax requirements (TX, OK, ND)
