Job Title

Sr Quality Engineer

About your role:

We’re looking for a software test engineer or software developer passionate about test engineering and ensuring software quality for complex web applications. You will build the automation and tooling that provides fast, trustworthy quality signals for a complex distributed, web-based product. As a member of the product development team, you’ll own end-to-end test strategy for critical user journeys, integrate execution into CI, and deliver clear, standardized reports to diagnose issues quickly and ship with confidence.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, build, and maintain a scalable end-to-end automation suite spanning web UI, APIs, and distributed backend services.
  • Utilize established test frameworks, libraries, and tools (Playwright, Selenium, WebDriver, Gauge) to improve coverage, maintainability, and developer ergonomics.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD processes (pre-merge validation, post-merge execution).  Include environment readiness checks and test data management, as needed.
  • Continuously improve testing accuracy and reliability.  Own test signal quality: reduce flakes and nondeterminism, improve runtime, and tune suites for high signal-to-noise.
  • Generate and publish test outcomes as standardized test reports (e.g., JUnit-style results, trend views) that provide actionable feedback to the product development team.
  • Investigate failures across services and infrastructure; distinguish product defects from test/environment issues and drive root-cause analysis.
  • Partner with Software Engineering, SRE/DevOps, Security, and Product to define software quality reports, quality gates, release criteria, and automation standards.
  • Contribute to engineering excellence through the published documentation of test plans, scripts and results.
  • Advise the product development team on best practices for testing, test frameworks, techniques and processes that promote quality practices across the product lifecycle.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you’ll need to have:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience working on or with a software engineering team.
  • 3+ years of experience building and maintaining automated tests for web applications and distributed systems.
  • Experience with end-to-end and API test automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Selenium, Cypress) and test design patterns.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD systems (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI) using Git-based workflows.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills across services, logs, and environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly through documentation, produce written reports and collaborate effectively with Agile cross-functional engineering teams.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience testing cloud-native and microservices architectures (Docker/Kubernetes) and working in a Linux-based environment.
  • Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, centralized logging/metrics/tracing) to improve test diagnostics and triage speed.
  • Experience with contract testing, service virtualization, or integration test strategies for distributed systems.
  • Experience building reporting pipelines and quality dashboards (e.g., JUnit XML, Allure, trend analysis) that surface actionable insights.
  • Experience with performance, load, resiliency, and/or security testing as part of a broader quality strategy.
  • Practical experience with back-end programming languages (Java, Python, Go, Rust).

How you’ll work:

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
  • This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.

  • Paid holidays and generous time away policies

  • Living Proof program to recognize your peers’ extra effort with points redeemable for rewards
  • Eight Employee Resource Groups to foster a collaborative culture and expand your network
  • ·Unparalleled professional growth with training, development, and internal mobility opportunities
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance options available from day one
  • Retirement planning and discounted shares with the Employee Stock Purchase Plan
