ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: This role is responsible for managing the sourcing process and reducing the direct material costs for the assigned division in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
DIMENSION:
The successful candidate will be effective operating in a matrix reporting structure and be able to work independently with limited supervision. The role will require occasional travel and the ability to work within a lean manufacturing environment.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:- Four-year undergraduate degree, preferably in a technical discipline. MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of five years of purchasing or sourcing experience in an automotive environment, preferably with a strong background in the metals industry and low-cost country sourcing.
- Ability to work in a matrix reporting structure, with experience balancing multiple priorities.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication (oral & written) skills.
- Advanced capabilities utilizing MS Office products and MRP systems, preferably with MFG Pro (QAD).
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills with the ability to challenge, influence and build consensus.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES- Effectively manage multiple quoting and sourcing activities to support new business and supplier changes within a dynamic and time-sensitive environment.
- Work with external suppliers and internal customers to meet aggressive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives through effective identification, prioritization and implementation of opportunities.
- Assist in identifying and evaluating new potential suppliers, with a focus on low-cost regions, to improve the division cost structure and reduce the overall company supply base.
- Negotiate commercial terms and implement supplier contracts with respect to items such as cost, tooling, lead time, shipping & inventory terms, and payment terms.
- Implement and support corporate commodity and/or supplier strategies within the division.
- Support the division finance, quality and logistics functions where necessary to ensure the lowest cost, highest quality, and most reliable delivery of components and materials.
- Prepare, review and communicate reports on activities and goal attainment for the division to corporate.
- Perform all duties in a professional and ethical manner and always maintain Company confidentiality.
