ABOUT THE ROLE

WPE is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee the delivery of assigned Power and Systems work packages on the Capital Line South Extension project in Edmonton. The successful candidate will serve as WPE's primary project representative, providing leadership in planning, execution, stakeholder management, commercial administration, risk management, and coordination with the General contractor, consultants, utility providers, and project stakeholders.

Essential Functions

Project Leadership
  • Lead all phases of the project from planning through construction and closeout.
  • Responsible for the overall management of all project scopes including electrical and communication construction, safety management/performance and quality management.
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts.
  • Ensure project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to project managers, estimators, coordinators, and field management personnel.
  • Accountable for overall project P&L and financial management

Client and Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact between WPE and the General Contractor.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with project owner, consultants, utility representatives, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Participate in executive-level meetings and project reviews.

Commercial and Contract Management
  • Manage contractual requirements with the General Contractor
  • Responsibility for project Change Management, cost or schedule related
  • Administer subcontract agreements and manage contractual obligations.
  • Accountable for monitoring project costs, productivity, and cash flow.
  • Review and approve project invoicing and cost forecasting.

Schedule and Risk Management
  • Manage overall scheduler performance
  • Monitor critical path activities and identify schedule risks and opportunities.
  • Develop mitigation and recovery plans when required.
  • Lead risk assessments and implement proactive risk management strategies.

Construction Oversight
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary construction activities.
  • Resolve technical, commercial, and operational issues affecting project delivery.
  • Ensure quality management requirements are implemented and maintained.
  • Support field teams with issue resolution and decision-making.

Safety and Quality
  • Champion a strong safety culture aligned with corporate and project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and lessons-learned initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications
  • Minimum 15 years' of experience in the construction industry
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a project management role
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Electrical Engineering or related field; a combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of a degree

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management
  • Advanced scheduling knowledge, including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
  • Experience with project controls, earned value management, and forecasting
  • Strong understanding of civil construction, utilities, structures, transportation infrastructure, and transit systems is an asset
  • Self-starter with strong leadership skills comfortable in an autonomous environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication skills

    • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
