The Sr. Project Engineer 6 Systems, PS leads the development, integration, and validation of generator control systems, driving electrical system architecture design, controller schematics, and system-level performance requirements. This role serves as a technical leader responsible for defining control strategies, guiding system design decisions, and ensuring successful execution of complex engineering projects.

The Sr. Project Engineer 6 Systems, PS collaborates across engineering disciplines, manufacturing, product management, quality, and suppliers to develop innovative controls solutions. The role is responsible for identifying and resolving system-level issues, leading technical risk assessments, and providing mentorship to junior engineers.

The Sr. Project Engineer 6 Systems, PS serves as a subject matter expert in controls technologies and generator applications while influencing product roadmaps and supporting strategic technology development initiatives.

The Sr. Project Engineer 6 Systems, PS is responsible for:

  • Leading the development and implementation of advanced controls technologies and algorithms
  • Owning system-level requirements, architecture, and controller design specifications
  • Driving resolution of complex technical issues across generator systems
  • Serving as a technical leader and mentor for project engineers and early-career engineers
  • Providing technical direction for current and future product development initiatives
  • Influencing engineering standards, best practices, and development processes

Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, analysis, and documentation of electrical system architectures for generator control systems
  • Define and manage system-level requirements and specifications to ensure successful product execution
  • Lead development and review of generator controller electrical schematics and integration strategies
  • Develop and own electronic controls system performance requirements and validation plans
  • Provide technical leadership for current and next-generation controls and power systems projects
  • Lead cross-functional technical teams through system risk assessments, design reviews, and issue resolution activities
  • Drive root cause investigation and resolution of complex generator system performance issues
  • Make critical technical decisions balancing performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and schedule considerations
  • Provide technical leadership during customer interactions, supplier engagements, and field issue investigations
  • Mentor and coach project engineers and junior engineers in controls engineering, system design, and engineering best practices
  • Support strategic technology roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead special technical projects and advanced development efforts as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with a Minimum of 6+ years of relevant electrical, controls, or power systems engineering experience.
  • A Master 2 degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with a Minimum of 2+ years of relevant electrical, controls, or power systems engineering experience may be considered as an alternative to work experience
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited program may be considered as an alternative to work experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects and cross-functional teams
  • Strong programming experience in C, C++, or similar high-level programming languages
  • Strong proficiency with MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience developing and validating embedded control systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple technical projects with minimal supervision

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with generator controls, power generation systems, microgrid systems, or distributed energy resources
  • Strong experience with PSPICE, OrCAD, or equivalent design tools
  • PLC programming experience
  • Understanding of Agile and Waterfall product development methodologies
  • Experience leading DFMEA, PFMEA, system FMEA, and risk management activities
  • Experience with model-based controls development
  • Experience supporting field issue investigations and customer-facing technical discussions
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity considerations for industrial controls systems

The Salary range for this position is $89,800.00-$114,100.00.The specific Salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate 2s experience, their education, and the work location.
