Position Title: Sr. Program Analyst - Environmental Health Emergency Preparedness (Temporary)

About the Role

NEHA is currently seeking a Senior Program Analyst within the Program and Partnership Development (PPD) Department. PPD secures funding and creates and disseminates educational resources to environmental health professionals. The department implements the National Environmental Health Internship Program; the Environmental Health Leadership Academy; creates policy statements; interfaces with member program committees; and creates, implements, and evaluates programs.

The Sr. Program Analyst in Environmental Health Emergency Preparedness is a thought leader and highly organized professional with significant experience in environmental public health and emergency preparedness. The position will support the integration of multiple lanes of public health programmatic efforts into a single, harmonized association-wide effort that meets the needs of our funders and members. The incumbent will become a part of our senior management team and will help inform and shape the future of NEHA as we work together to identify needs and opportunities to further engage and support the environmental public health workforce, locally, nationally, and globally. This candidate must have the demonstrated ability to work effectively within, uphold, and strengthen the organization's established culture and values.

Occasional travel will be required for this exciting position; approximately 4-8 trips per year. This includes opportunities to attend and present on environmental topics at conferences, meet with our funders to talk about projects and strategies, and provide training to support state, tribal, local, and territorial jurisdictions. A passport may also be required. Intermittent work on nights and weekends may also be required.

What You'll Do

Program Oversight

• Direct participation in grant-funded activities for general environmental health and emergency preparedness
• Monitor progress of public and environmental health programs to ensure outputs and outcomes are achieved according to timeline
• Collaborate with staff across the Association to identify and implement new projects and opportunities in public and environmental health
• Ensure programs are responsive to constituent's needs

Community Building, Partnership Management and Thought Leadership

• Build and manage relationships with national and regional partners as well as current and potential funders to support program growth and replication
• Develop and implement strategies to maximize NEHA's thought leadership in public and environmental health
• Assist in the NEHA Annual Education Conference (AEC) to create high quality and timely content
• Identify, develop, and update needs for policy statements and white papers
• Publish peer-refereed journal articles and act as a national spokesperson on environmental health
• Work with internal and external NEHA trainers to ensure the Association provides high impact continuing professional education to its members and the environmental health profession

Fundraising and Development

• Identify potential funding sources and determine NEHA's eligibility
• Support development and implementation of a fundraising strategy for public health programs
• Lead grant writing process as needed

Physical requirements:

• Ability to occasionally lift 25 lbs. or less
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
• Manual dexterity required for operating office equipment
• Ability to read required reports and computer screen
• Hearing required to interact with management and associates

Our Ideal Candidate

Education and experience:

• Master's degree in environmental health, public health, project management, or related field.
• Minimum of five to seven years' experience in environmental public health with strong emergency preparedness response experience
• Project management experience
• Experience prioritizing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in fast paced environment

The salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000, dependent on qualifications and experience..
