Role Definition

The role manages the day-to-day operations of first shift of our EPD Griffin assembly facility.

What You Will Do

  • Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for operations staff; managing, motivating, and developing management team.

  • Overseeing operations activities, ensuring that safety, and schedules and performance requirements are met and system resources are used effectively.

  • Driving improvements for overall operations performance and implementing production safety, cost, and quality control mechanisms.

  • Ensures the compliance of all regulatory guidelines and forges a safe and sound manufacturing environment.

  • Identifies the critical goals and tasks required to meet daily objectives.

  • Develops contingency plans or to improve processes and to avoid problems before they occur.

  • Evaluates linkages and interrelationships when prioritizing multiple responsibilities.

  • Manages conflicting priorities effectively.

  • Tracks the implementation of plans closely to ensure that desired outcomes are achieved.

What You Will Have (Basic Qualifications)

Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.

Performance Management: Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.

  • Identifies opportunities to enhance performance, e.g., practice assignments, training, shadowing.

  • Ensures performance goals, checkpoints, and feedback focus on behaviors.

  • Provides documented input to formal performance review conducted by manager.

  • Observes individual performance and provides fair and objective feedback.

  • Uses formal and informal rewards and recognition programs for employees.

Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.

  • Monitors organizational adherence to policies and procedures.

  • Facilitates communications across departments to ensure a smooth workflow in the plant or facility.

  • Evaluates the risks and safety hazards present in manufacturing operations.

  • Supervises daily operations to ensure production targets and forecasts are achieved.

Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment, and site.

  • Designs and implements emergency response processes and procedures.

  • Promotes workplace safety among supervisors and workers; communicates safety rules and regulations.

  • Assesses and reports unusual or new safety hazards or violations; initiates corrective action.

  • Ensures that all employees and contractors comply with relevant safety policies and regulations.

Production Scheduling and Control: Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs; ability to utilize knowledge of daily manufacturing processes to assure quality deliverables.

  • Follows existing procedures to set up, stage and ensure proper job completion.

  • Identifies demand patterns; implements demand management processes.

  • Coordinates appropriate production documentation and authorizations.

  • Confirms production requirements and lead times beforehand; assists in setting up production jobs.

  • Diagnoses and addresses production problems using established guidelines.

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration or related discipline

  • This position may require up to 10% travel, primarily domestic.

  • US Domestic relocation assistance IS offered for this position.

  • This position requires a 5-day-in-office presence.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
