Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Production Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with customer and industry requirements. This role provides advanced technical expertise in process development, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior Production Engineer serves as a key technical resource for internal departments and external customers and contributes to major technical decisions impacting production performance and product capability.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interpret customer purchase orders, engineering drawings, and specifications to establish manufacturing requirements and ensure compliance
  • Lead customer change-order projects, including new product introductions, dimensional capability analysis, tooling recommendations, and first-article documentation
  • Develop, update, and maintain work instructions, inspection plans, and process documentation in alignment with specification and blueprint requirements
  • Support daily production activities by providing technical guidance, resolving process issues, and driving improvements in cost, lead-time, quality, and safety
  • Participate in internal and external quality system and process audits
  • Lead or support root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations
  • Provide technical and quality support to internal teams and customers for both pre-delivery and post-delivery inquiries
  • Disposition nonconforming material and support MRB activities in accordance with established procedures
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute technical leadership to cross-functional project teams
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Strong understanding of process capability, metrology, inspection methods, and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of investment casting processes, gating design, shrink factors, and metallurgical behavior (Titanium experience preferred)
  • Proficiency with quality systems, including FMEA, APQP/PPAP, corrective actions, and structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to support process improvements
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interface with internal teams, customers, and vendors
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in aerospace, metals, or investment casting strongly preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to work in conditions that may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures
