Description:

Join a team of technicians and engineers helping to keep our engine test stands and component testing facilities well maintained across Huntsville, Kent, and West Texas test operations! Our scope also includes our Cleaning, Passivation, and Verification (CPV) facilities, which support test operations cleaning needs for fluid component system cleanliness and component teardown.

This role applies production control principles to a maintenance-focused test environment, complementing the existing production control roles that support hardware processing through our facilities. You will help ensure all maintenance work, including Preventative Maintenance (PMs), reactive repairs, improvements, and scheduled downtime, is carefully planned and resourced. This work must be completed within the team's capacity. You will also identify ways to improve our planning and resourcing processes. As this function matures, you will directly influence growth opportunities for the team and assist in crafting its strategic direction.

This role calls for thoughtful communication, organization, planning, and project management skills, along with the leadership and vision to help develop and grow this function. You will partner with technicians, test engineers, and leadership across multiple sites to maintain a healthy maintenance program that protects our test infrastructure and CPV activities. This position will contribute significantly to the future of space exploration and asks for your care and attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight.

This role is based in Huntsville, AL and works with the Director of Test Operations and Maintenance. Travel of 10 to 25% is encouraged to support Kent, WA as well as operations in West Texas.

Responsibilities:
  • Help build and define the production control function within Test Operations Maintenance, establishing standard work, processes, and tools that scale across the team.
  • Independently plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities (PMs, reactive repairs, upgrades, improvements, and planned outages) to align with test campaign schedules, incorporating CPV and valve shop demand into the broader plan.
  • Build integrated maintenance schedules that balance capacity against demand, surfacing issues and trade-offs to leadership while owning capacity planning and resource forecasting.
  • Manage Work Order lifecycle across all business systems, and track and report key maintenance metrics (PM compliance, schedule adherence, backlog, MTTR) to guide continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate parts, materials, and specialty tooling, collaborating with procurement and supply chain to get ahead of shortages and long-lead items.
  • Identify constraints in the maintenance flow and lead problem-solving, including anomaly investigations and root cause analyses, to develop recovery plans.
  • Serve as the primary scheduling and planning point of contact between Test Operations Maintenance and internal customers (test, engine, and vehicle programs).
  • Mentor junior production control personnel and improve planning tools and ERP/MRP/CMMS workflows as the function grows.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of professional schedule management, production control, or maintenance planning experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, take ownership of complex projects, and set direction in ambiguous situations.
  • Experience guiding process improvement and developing guidelines at the team or department level.
  • Substantial experience with ERP/MRP and/or CMMS platforms; experience working with inventory and database systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to influence collaborators at all levels.
  • Must be eligible to gain access to Redstone Arsenal.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, supply chain management, business, or industrial engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in a test, R&D, or development environment (vs. purely production).
  • Experience supporting maintenance organizations, facilities operations, or test infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting precision cleaning, component processing, or valve shop operations.
  • Familiarity with maintenance planning principles (PM optimization, RCM, outage planning, work order management).
  • Experience standing up a new function or team within a larger organization.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed or multi-site teams.
  • Proficiency with Costpoint, MS Project, Smartsheet, Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, or AI tools.
  • Experience in aerospace, energy, or heavy industrial environments.

Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $115,256.00 - $161,357.70
