Are you excited at the prospect of keeping millions of customers' data safe? Do you want to help secure applications by offering secrets management and distribution services at scale within the cloud - and shape how AI transforms the security landscape? Security is the #1 concern of customers moving to the cloud, and the AWS Secrets Management team is dedicated to providing easy-to-use secrets management services for our customers to manage their credentials and secrets across all their AWS services. We are prescriptive about security of our customers' data and we continuously work to define and evangelize best practices for secrets management at scale. This approach enables our customers to confidently use public cloud services with assurance that they will continue to meet their strict security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
The AWS Secrets Management team is part of the AWS Identity organization under Platform Experience (PLEX) and is responsible for managing and distributing credentials and secrets across millions of hosts deployed for internal Amazon users and AWS customers. The team owns AWS Secrets Manager, Amazon's internal Tier-0 credential delivery system (Odin), and related secrets infrastructure services. We are an AI-first organization - leveraging generative AI and machine learning to reimagine how secrets are managed, rotated, and secured at scale. From AI-powered threat detection and anomaly identification to intelligent credential lifecycle automation, we are building the next generation of secrets management that anticipates security risks before they materialize. As AI workloads proliferate across the cloud, we are also solving the unique challenge of securing credentials for AI agents, ML pipelines, and model inference - ensuring that the AI revolution doesn't outpace the security posture of the organizations adopting it.
We are looking for a strong Senior Product Manager - Technical with an interest in practical cryptography, application security, and AI-driven security innovation to join us in building one of the fastest-growing security services at AWS. You will help customers protect their sensitive data with easy-to-use, secure, and affordable secrets management and distribution services - and you will shape how AI transforms the security landscape for millions of developers worldwide.
Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Product Manager - Technical for AWS Secrets Manager, you will:
Drive AI-first product strategy - Define and execute the vision for AI-powered secrets management, including intelligent credential rotation, AI-driven anomaly detection, automated remediation workflows, and generative AI integrations that simplify security for developers.
Shape AI security posture - Identify and address the unique security challenges that AI and machine learning workloads introduce - securing model credentials, managing secrets for AI agents and autonomous pipelines, and ensuring AI systems themselves don't become vectors for credential exposure.
Build AI-native developer experiences - Leverage generative AI to eliminate friction in secrets management workflows - from natural-language policy creation to AI-assisted troubleshooting and intelligent secret discovery.
Own product strategy and roadmap - Develop and drive the AWS Secrets Manager product strategy, translating customer needs and market trends into creative, high-quality, simple features that accelerate adoption.
Deeply understand customers - Engage with customers regularly through calls, visits, customer briefings, advisory boards, and travel to conferences, summits, and customer sites to understand their secrets management challenges inside and out.
Drive cross-functional influence - Lead teams across AWS Identity, Security, and partner organizations directly or by influence to drive adoption of secrets management, credential rotation, and data security best practices.
Make business decisions that drive growth - Set pricing, target the right customer segments, prioritize investments, and identify partnership opportunities that grow adoption and accelerate the overall security business.
Collaborate with engineering - Work closely with engineering teams to design, prioritize, and deliver in an agile environment, balancing new feature development with operational excellence for a Tier-0 service.
Launch and evangelize - Launch new features and ensure our sales, marketing, field enablement, and PR teams are telling the most compelling story. Create go-to-market deliverables and train AWS field teams.
Shape the internal secrets ecosystem - Contribute to the strategy for Amazon's internal credential management and distribution systems, helping raise the security bar for hundreds of thousands of internal service teams.
About the team
Team Introduction - AWS Secrets Manager | Identity / PLEX
The AWS Secrets Management team owns the end-to-end lifecycle of credentials and secrets for both AWS customers and Amazon's internal infrastructure. We operate within the AWS Identity organization under Platform Experience (PLEX), and our portfolio spans three pillars:
AWS Secrets Manager (External) - A fully managed service that enables millions of AWS customers to store, rotate, and retrieve database credentials, API keys, and other secrets. We are one of the fastest-growing security services at AWS, with adoption spanning startups to the largest regulated enterprises.
Odin (Internal) - Amazon's Tier-0 credential distribution system, responsible for delivering secrets to millions of hosts across Amazon and AWS. Odin is foundational infrastructure - when it's down, Amazon is down. We are actively modernizing Odin with production boundary enforcement, AI-driven anomaly detection, and next-generation distribution architecture.
Secrets Infrastructure - The connective tissue between internal and external - including cross-service integrations, partner ecosystem development, and the shared platform capabilities that power both Odin and Secrets Manager.
