Primary Function of the Position

Product Managers play a critical role in Ion's success by enabling cross-functional teams to deliver differentiated, life-changing products and solutions that improve patient outcomes and customer experience. The Sr Product Manager, Ion Endoluminal Systems will be responsible for driving the development, launch, and lifecycle management of robotic systems from initial investigation to commercialization and through end-of-life.This includes executing high-impact projects to elevate the capabilities of future Ion platforms, working closely with customers and field teams to capture voice of customer as well as field team collaboration to ensure optimal customer experience with existing products.

Working across multiple product franchises and geographies, and in close partnership with R&D, Product Operations, Manufacturing, Clinical, Quality, Regulatory, and Commercial teams, this person also will have a unique breadth and story-telling platform, tying the value-proposition of multiple products into a cohesive and compelling story that ranges across the portfolio lifecycle (from launch to end-of-life). The Product Manager ensures that products meet customer, clinical, and business needs while balancing performance, usability, cost, supply, and quality considerations.

Operating with moderate independence on complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives, the Product Manager provides strategic input into portfolio and roadmap development, translates voice-of-customer and field insights into actionable product requirements, and crafts compelling, data-driven product narratives to influence tradeoff decisions and stakeholder alignment. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to connect big-picture strategy to disciplined execution are essential to success in this role.

This position reports to the Group Product Manager of Systems and acts as an advocate for capital equipment lifecycle excellence across the Ion endoluminal portfolio.

Essential Job Duties

Upstream Product Management
  • Understand external customers' (i.e. clinicians/KOLs, reprocessing teams, hospitals and payors) and internal customers' (i.e. Field Sales, Customer Support, Field Engineering and Services) needs to identify and develop in-market and product development solutions.
  • Drive Product Management in the SIOP process (Sales, Inventory, Operations Planning) process, working closely with manufacturing and operations, forecasting SKUs. Also, allocating products, when needed, with launch ramps or supply constraints.
  • Monitor and prioritize product quality issues. Work on cross-functional teams to resolve product issues and critical customer issues to optimize customer experience with Intuitive and Ion products, services and solutions.
  • Leverage and implement ecosystem solutions with existing customers, with internal alignment on prioritization of these solutions and services as part of the annual planning process.
  • Proactively identify, prioritize, and drive resolution of product quality and supply issues in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Product and component end of life recommendations, planning, analysis and execution with the cross-functional team to include engineering and planning

Business Analysis
  • Analyze market, customer, competitive, financial, and operational data to inform product decisions, business, and pricing recommendations.
  • Develop success metrics and KPIs that directly tie product performance to user needs and business outcomes.
  • Partner with Finance to support forecasting, lifecycle planning, and business case development.
  • Integrate qualitative and quantitative research insights into clear product positioning and value propositions.

Product Rollout and Launch
  • Propose product feature updates and next-generation products and services aligned with customer needs and company's long-term targets: Identify and clearly articulate unmet customer needs
  • Evaluate fit or prototype product solutions
  • Evaluate critical business requirements and potential product impact
  • Build awareness of existing in-market products and services that may be underutilized by the existing customer base
  • Refine product positioning and establish claims, messaging and pricing
  • Ensure execution of a smooth product rollout process, primarily in the United States but also global product launches when needed.
  • Measure product success by monitoring product adoption and seeking post-launch product feedback.
  • Partner with global counterparts to develop and implement specific product launch and product cycle activities.

Roadmap Development
  • Shaping strategy and execution across multiple product lines and platforms.
  • Serve as a conduit between field teams and product management team, providing actionable, real-time insights.
  • Conduct direct customer engagement, including clinician interviews, site observations, and KOL interactions.
  • Monitor clinical literature, emerging technologies, and market dynamics impacting Ion endoluminal platforms.
  • Contribute to roadmap development by evaluating tradeoffs, risks, and opportunities and building alignment across stakeholders.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative market research to inform Ion's product roadmap development by evaluating tradeoffs, risks, and opportunities and building alignment across stakeholders.

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in medical device product management, product marketing, or product-focused commercial roles
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple complex projects and product lines with moderate risk and ambiguity
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize multiple data sources into clear insights and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Proven ability to communicate compelling product stories and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage product cycles.
  • Track record of effective collaboration across engineering, operations, clinical, commercial, and regulatory partners
  • Self-starter with ability to take leadership in a fast-paced environment, agility to pivot focus to meet evolving customer needs and shifting market dynamics.
  • Strong relationship builder with proven ability to work across disparate parts of an organization to deliver results.
  • Comfortable working in hospital, procedural, and surgical lab environments

Required Education and Training
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in science, engineering, or business.
  • Well-versed in MS Office Suite, Tableau, Salesforce.

Working Conditions
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Master's degree in life science, engineering or business discipline preferred
