Full Job Description
Senior Product Manager

Location: Austin, Texas or Phoenix, AZ (United States)

Department: Product, SiteOwl (Building Technology Solutions)

Reports To: Director of Product, SiteOwl

Position Summary

SiteOwl is seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to own a significant area of the platform and define its future direction. This role partners closely with Engineering, Design, Customer Success, and Sales to carry a product area from discovery through delivery, and to measure outcomes after release.

The role serves two distinct user profiles: Security Integrators and Security Teams. Security Integrators design and install electronic security systems, including cameras, card readers, and intrusion panels. Security Teams own and rely on these systems to maintain safe environments. SiteOwl captures all of this. Systems are designed on floor plans, installations are run from the field, every device lands in an inventory that is actually accurate, and maintenance is tracked instead of forgotten. The Senior Product Manager owns the roadmap, requirements, and outcomes for one or more platform areas. The role requires strong written communication, sound decision-making judgment, and end-to-end ownership through refinement, build, and release.

This role is based in either Austin, TX or Phoenix, AZ

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap and backlog for assigned platform areas, with accountability for outcomes and delivery.

  • Conduct ongoing discovery with customers, including integrator project managers, field technicians, security directors, and support teams.

  • Synthesize customer input, support data, and sales feedback into prioritized, defensible roadmap decisions.

  • Author clear requirements for engineering, including problem definition, user context, scope, edge cases, and rationale.

  • Partner with Design teams on user flows and mockups.

  • Maintain ownership through refinement, build, and release rather than handing off specifications.

  • Manage backlog scope and sequencing.

  • Make and communicate prioritization tradeoffs, including declining requests with clear rationale.

  • Define success criteria before launch and evaluate outcomes against them post-launch.

  • Apply AI tools to accelerate the work itself: synthesizing feedback at scale, drafting and refining requirements, analyzing product data, and building prototypes to validate ideas before engineering investment.

  • Maintain an informed point of view on where AI adds product value versus where it does not.

  • Author release communications, brief internal teams, and support Sales in articulating product changes.

  • Track competitive activity and distinguish substantive differentiation from demo-only features.

  • Contribute to quarterly and half-year planning with the Director of Product.

  • Engage directly with customers through advisory councils, user groups, and trade shows.

Required Qualifications

  • Six or more years of product management experience, including multiple years owning B2B SaaS products with revenue accountability.

  • Demonstrated track record of shipping products with sustained real-world usage, not only successful demos.

  • Strong written communication across requirements, decision documentation, roadmap narratives, and customer-facing communication.

  • Working knowledge of data models, permissions structures, integrations, and design considerations for users operating in field conditions.

  • Structured decision-making approach: synthesizing available information, making and documenting decisions, and adjusting based on new information.

  • Demonstrated customer engagement orientation, including direct field observation (site visits, support call participation).

  • Practical fluency with AI tools for research synthesis, drafting, competitive analysis, data analysis, and prototyping, with the judgment to critically evaluate AI-generated output.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; proficiency with issue tracking, documentation, design collaboration, and analytics tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electronic security, physical security, construction technology, field service, or an adjacent industry.

  • Familiarity with architectural drawings, CAD, or BIM formats (DWG, DXF, Revit).

  • Experience designing mobile applications for field or industrial use cases.

  • Experience with multi-tenant architecture, role-based permissions, and enterprise administration features.

  • Experience leading a product through a platform migration or re-architecture.

  • Experience shipping AI or LLM-based features, including evaluation and guardrail development.

Work Environment

This role collaborates with teams and customers across multiple geographies and functions. The team operates on Central Time, and candidates should expect meaningful business-hours overlap with this time zone regardless of location. The role requires periodic travel (approximately 10%) to customer sites, trade shows, and company meetings. A valid passport, or the ability to obtain one, is required.
