Full Job Description
RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: No relocation assistance available CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR START: Yes CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the Time Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an immediate opportunity available for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. The selected candidate for this position will report to the Northrop Grumman Laser Systems facility in Apopka, FL. This position is to support the design, integration, test, and production of laser/electro-optical, network and communication systems. Please note: Candidates must have an active Secret Clearance in order to be considered for this role. Roles & Responsibilities: - Implement and manage system requirements. - Revises and manages both original and revised specification/interface definition document and expedites documents through signature approval process. - Provides data to risk management (identifies potential risks) and trade study processes. - Supports system design, data analyses, interface verification, testing, failure/anomaly resolution and mission operations. - Supports the testing and/or evaluation/validation of one or more components of a system or subsystem analytical model or actual system implementation. - Attends and prepares materials for presentation during System Requirement Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review and System Verification Review. - Supports trade studies, system sensitivity studies, design optimization studies, system performance assessments, system design assessments, mission analysis and timelines and concept of operations development. - Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment supporting an Integrated Product Team. Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: - BS Degree in Computer Science or related STEM degree and 8 years of related experience or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related STEM degree and 6 years of related experience, or PhD with 4 years of related experience. - US Citizenship is required - Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance for continued employment. - 2 years experience with DOORS requirements managements tool - 2 years experience process and Procedure writing experience - Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes - Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Candidate MUST have an active Secret Clearance to be considered. Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and associated tools (eg, Cameo) - Understanding of Statement of Work and other contractual documents - Experience writing statements of work and estimating project scope - Experience in problem-solving skills - Experience in performing failure analysis and driving implementation of robust corrective action - Ability to scope and generate product test plans, lead tests as Test Engineer and generate comprehensive test reports for internal and external customer distribution. - Experience in problem-solving skills - Good organization skills – Ability to coordinate multiple projects. - Ability to effectively communicate and present complex technical concepts to project, program, and company management, other technical managers, and customers. Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
