Reporting to the Senior Director, Counsel of the sector, this role operates as a legal specialist and business partner in providing strategic, proactive, and practical legal counsel and guidance to sector management and staff on general and specialized legal matters.
Essential Functions: - Partners with leaders to assess, predict, and manage legal and other risks in a growing business operating internationally
- Advises, counsels, and functions as a trusted business partner on legal and other matters related to the business objectives of the sector
- Provides legal guidance and counseling on risk mitigation strategies, contract interpretation and provisions, dispute resolution, and other legal issues
- Negotiates, researches, drafts, revises, and / or analyzes agreements, contracts, memoranda, legal correspondence, and other legal documents
- Engages in factual investigation, analyzes complex legal and factual issues, conducts extensive legal research, independently develops, recommends, and presents strategies on a wide range of legal matters
- Ensures that sector practices and procedures comply with global, federal, state and local laws and regulations, and are consistent with applicable corporate policies and procedures
- Engages with customer counterparts as reasonably required in support of addressing certain complex legal / business transactional matters
- Collaborates with operational, subcontracts and supply chain leadership to ensure that contractual and operational risks assumed by the business are flowed down to subcontractors and suppliers
- Monitors, reviews, and resolves day-to day legal and regulatory issues as they are assigned
- Maintains knowledge of current and emerging laws, regulations, and trends.
- Government contracts experience within the US DoD market, including both U.S. and international government and commercial customers.
- Experience in aircraft purchasing, strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills are required.
- Personal commitment to ethics and compliance, and experience working in an environment with high ethical standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Qualifications: - Bachelors degree with 15 years of extensive experience managing contracts, aircraft purchasing agreements, and complex maintenance repair and overhaul agreements.
- Graduate degree with 13 years of extensive experience managing contracts, aircraft purchasing agreements, and complex maintenance repair and overhaul agreements.
- Must have a Doctorate (JD) degree and an active state license to practice law.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
