Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for an Internal Only: Sr Principal Agile Product Owner - Network Team Lead (26-406) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

NOTE: This position is only available to current and active C2BMC personnel

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The C2BMC program is the integrating element of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively visualize the battle as it unfolds, and dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations, both globally and regionally, to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and exercise the capabilities of current and future missile defense systems.

In this role, you will serve as a Network Team Lead within the C2BMC Network Enterprise, providing technical and leadership direction to a high-performing team delivering critical network capabilities for the program.

Essential Functions:

In this role, the selected candidate will:

  • Serve as the Network Team Lead for capabilities integrated into the C2BMC Network Enterprise, providing day-to-day technical and leadership directions to a multi-discipline engineering team
  • Coordinate planning, organization, and execution of engineering activities for development, integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of assigned network-related capabilities
  • Work within an Agile Release Train (ART) to plan and prioritize work based on customer requirements, program contractual commitments, and technical readiness.
  • Apply extensive expertise to solve complex technical and programmatic problems that require ingenuity, creativity, and sound engineering judgment
  • Operate with minimal direction; work is reviewed primarily for achievement of long-term objectives and overall program outcomes
  • Represent the organization as the primary customer contact for assigned capabilities on significant technical matters, including briefings, technical interchanges, and status reviews
  • Be accountable for cost, schedule, and technical performance for assigned capabilities, including planning and managing budgets, schedules, and technical baselines
  • Maintain clear and open communication with program leadership, engineering management, and stakeholders regarding status, risks, issues, staffing needs, and key decisions
  • Drive the use of engineering, Agile, DevOps, and Digital Transformation best practices within the team; review artifacts and development practices for compliance with engineering principles, company/program standards, customer requirements, and related specifications
  • Provide input to standard metrics packages and dashboards used for program execution status, technical performance, and management/customer reporting
  • Lead risk management activities, including identification, mitigation planning, tracking, and reporting for assigned capabilities
  • Manage schedule planning and change requests (ECPs and other change vehicles) associated with assigned capabilities, ensuring impacts are understood, communicated, and controlled
  • Coordinate and de-conflict resources across multiple spirals, capabilities, and ARTs to optimize utilization and maintain execution commitments
  • Lead team Agile ceremonies and other planning activities (e.g., PI planning, iteration planning, retrospectives) to ensure backlog priority, technical maturity, and delivery predictability are achieved
  • Maintain the team's Hive structure and associated tooling, ensuring artifacts, tasks, and status are accurate and current
  • Support documentation development, technical exchange meetings with stakeholders, test events, and capability deployments as part of the overall delivery lifecycle.
  • Perform any additional tasks required by the program to ensure successful delivery of network capabilities


Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
  • Applicants must have a current, active Government-Issued 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA-Security, CND, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their 8140 certifications throughout the entire contract period
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope Government-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
  • Active Project Management certification such as CompTIA Project+, CAPM, or PMP (or ability to obtain within 60 days of start)
  • Demonstrated experience leading high-performance technical teams, including tasking, priority setting, mentoring, and performance oversight
  • Proven project management experience on large DoD systems/capabilities under development, including responsibility for cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Experience coordinating planning, execution, integration, and completion of projects within an assigned area of responsibility, including cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience planning, conducting, and coordinating activities such as technical documentation development, technical exchange meetings, test events, and capability deployments
  • Experience supporting program management of strategic technical projects, including problem solving, issue resolution, and sustaining an effective business rhythm
  • Experience with Agile methodology (e.g., Scrum, SAFe) and/or Agile Product Owner roles, and practical exposure to Digital Transformation and DevOps implementation
  • Experience managing the design, development, and implementation of complex systems (preferably network or infrastructure systems in a mission or weapon system environment)
  • Ability to analyze project, program, and portfolio information needs and determine resources and sequencing required to achieve objectives
  • Ability to understand and balance the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of technical and programmatic decisions
  • Prior hands-on experience as an Information Technology Engineer, preferably in network or infrastructure engineering (e.g., network design, implementation, operations, or troubleshooting)
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively interface with customers, leadership, and multi-discipline teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel to alternate work locations (e.g., Huntsville, AL; customer/test sites) to support program and test activities, as required


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior C2BMC experience and familiarity with C2BMC NT/BC processes, procedures, and operational environments
  • Previous experience as a Network Team Lead, Product Owner, or comparable technical leadership role on a large, complex program
  • Experience developing KPIs and metrics and using them to drive performance, availability, and continuous improvement, including dashboards and management/customer reports
  • Experience leading or contributing to Digital Transformation initiatives, including automation, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and modern monitoring/observability solutions
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies and assess applicability to mission needs
  • Experience working across multiple ARTs or large agile programs (e.g., SAFe) with complex interdependencies

Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
