This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It acts as an essential operational tool that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defenses systematically, monitor the battle collectively, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapons systems to meet global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense systems that deliver an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensors, weapon systems, and operations at both global and regional levels to improve performance. C2BMC is crucial for all grounds and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

The selected candidate will be part of the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications Experimentation Laboratory (C2BMC X-Lab), which is a very fast paced and dynamic environment. The X-Lab is responsible for developing and integrating future-capability prototypes for the Missile Defense System, including Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development and other critical leading-edge missile defense technologies.

The individual will be responsible for deploying and maintaining a large virtualization solution, spread across multiple remote sites. This environment includes solutions like virtualization hypervisor platforms, remote virtual desktop infrastructures, other direct user experience technologies, and other monitoring solutions for virtual infrastructure.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with other teams, such as IDAM engineering, to configure new services for user access to virtual assets, utilizing cloud specific technologies
  • Deployment and maintenance of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) technologies that provide access to enterprise services to user base, either local or remote (VMWare Horizon View and/or Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops)
  • Act as primary administrator for Kubernetes containerized architecture for deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning processing

Basic Qualifications:

  • Applicants must possess a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is necessary to start
  • Candidate must be a detail-oriented individual that is able to track the impact of events and actions on the underlying infrastructure being managed, such as patching and maintenance
  • Experience with virtualization technologies in an enterprise level system, such as VMWare, Redhat Openstack, or Nutanix Capacity tracking for virtual resources usage to properly plan for future expansion in a multi-tenant environment
  • Familiarity with containerization tools (Kubernetes)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding and experience with Nutanix Prism/AHV on-premises cloud platform
  • Experience with an on-premises multi-tenant environment using role-based administrative controls (RBAC) for least privilege
