POSITION OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the development, governance, and continuous improvement of maintenance and asset management plans for assigned mobile or fixed plant equipment fleets. This role supports safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance execution by developing detailed maintenance plans, coordinating scheduling activities, and ensuring alignment with operational and asset management objectives.

The position works closely with operations, maintenance, supply chain, contractors, and reliability teams to support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies. The Maintenance Planner is also responsible for maintaining accurate work management data within SAP S/4HANA and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, and overall operational performance.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company policies, MSHA regulations, environmental standards, and Asset Management Framework (AMF) requirements.
Maintenance Planning: Develop detailed maintenance plans including labor requirements, procedures, tooling, materials, equipment, and parts required for scheduled work execution.
Work Management: Maintain and manage work orders, notifications, priorities, and scheduling readiness within SAP S/4HANA and CMMS systems.
Scheduling Coordination: Coordinate and lead planning, prioritization, scheduling, and plan compliance meetings with operations, maintenance, and support departments.
Contractor Coordination: Coordinate maintenance activities and planning requirements with contractors, vendors, OEMs, and service providers.
Asset Strategy Support: Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and availability.
Forecasting & Budgeting: Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance forecasts and component replacement plans aligned with operational requirements, budgets, and life-of-mine planning.
Downtime Management: Support outage planning, equipment shutdown coordination, and downtime optimization initiatives.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements that enhance equipment performance, maintenance efficiency, safety, and cost control.
Reliability Support: Analyze equipment history and maintenance trends to support reliability improvements and long-term asset management strategies.
RCM & RCFA Participation: Support Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives and ensure timely completion of Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) action items.
Cost Analysis: Perform Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis and support maintenance strategy optimization efforts.
Materials Coordination: Collaborate with supply chain and warehouse teams to ensure proper material availability and logistics support for planned work.
Technology & Systems Improvement: Support implementation and utilization of maintenance technologies, planning tools, and asset health monitoring systems.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with maintenance, operations, reliability, tailings, processing, and external support groups to support maintenance objectives and operational priorities.
Leadership Expectations: Demonstrate behaviors aligned with company values including accountability, operational excellence, teamwork, and responsible work practices.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required
• Minimum five (5) years of maintenance planning experience in the mining industry
• Experience with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
• Strong knowledge of maintenance work management processes including planning, scheduling, execution, and continuous improvement
• Experience using CMMS systems, including SAP S/4HANA
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and Visio
• Knowledge of scheduling tools and resource planning techniques including Gantt scheduling and resource leveling
• Understanding of mining and mineral processing maintenance practices and applicable regulations
• Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, and external service providers
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English

Preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with asset management systems and ISO 55000 principles
• Experience using Power BI or asset health dashboard tools
• Experience supporting reliability improvement and downtime optimization initiatives
• Experience with budget development and maintenance cost forecasting
• Experience leading cross-functional planning and coordination meetings

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Combination of office and field work within mining and processing environments
• Approximately 80% office-based work focused on maintenance planning, forecasting, budgeting, and scheduling activities
• Approximately 20% field exposure supporting inspections, coordination activities, and operational support
• Regular interaction with maintenance shops, mine operations, and processing facilities
• Walking on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs in industrial environments
• Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and varying weather conditions
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in operational areas
• Ability to work in both indoor office settings and outdoor field environments
