Job DescriptionThe
SeniorPerformance Engineer requires a strong understanding of theoretical engineering principles related to propulsion systems, engine performance, and data acquisition technologies. This role applies engineering expertise to troubleshoot performance issues, analyze complex data sets, and support diagnostic and test cell operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with propulsion systems, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, and engine performance analysis within aerospace, automotive, or heavy-equipment environments. This role requires strong analytical capability, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate performance data into actionable engineering solutions.
What You'll Do- Perform engineering troubleshooting related to propulsion and engine performance, including problem analysis, calculations, and communication of solutions to technical and operational teams
- Design, implement, and maintain data acquisition (DAQ) systems, sensors, instrumentation, and diagnostic tools for engine and propulsion testing
- Develop and maintain diagnostic test cell tools and advanced performance analysis toolkits
- Monitor engine and propulsion system performance trends, identify anomalies, and recommend corrective actions
- Analyze propulsion system vibration and performance events using advanced signature and frequency-domain methods
- Support propulsion testing activities, including engine dynamometer and test cell operations
- Lead or support test cell correlation activities and manage engine performance data reduction methodologies and tools
- Develop and maintain automated data collection, validation, and reporting processes for performance metrics
- Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, and guidelines for engine configuration, build criteria, and test requirements
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams, suppliers, OEMs, and operations to support performance analysis, continuous improvement, and compliance with safety standards
Minimum Qualifications- 5+ years of engineering experience in performance engineering, propulsion systems, or automotive/aerospace engine testing environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience working with data acquisition (DAQ) systems, sensors, instrumentation, and signal processing.
- 5+ years of experience interpreting complex engineering drawings and specifications for 3+ years, including GD&T, schematics, and assembly drawings in propulsion, automotive, or mechanical systems environments.
- 3+ years of hands-on or applied engineering experience supporting gas turbine, propulsion, or internal combustion engine systems, including performance analysis, diagnostics, or testing activities.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience using measurement and diagnostic instrumentation such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, accelerometers, flow meters, vibration sensors, and engine diagnostic tools.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience collaborating with OEM engineering teams and external technical partners.
- Preferred experience with these tool (MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, or similar platforms)
