Senior Network Engineer to join our dedicated IT team.
Located on the beautiful Texas Gulf Coast, just south of Houston, we're a community focused on providing outstanding public services. Example of DutiesWhat You'll DoAs our Senior Network Engineer, you will be the go-to expert for the county's network infrastructure. Your work will ensure seamless connectivity and security for all county operations.
- Architect & Innovate: Design, implement, and manage our robust county-wide network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VoIP, and data center networks.
- Secure & Protect: Act as a guardian of our digital assets by configuring and managing firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access control lists.
- Ensure Peak Performance: Proactively monitor network health using advanced tools, troubleshoot complex Tier 3 issues, and guarantee the high availability of critical systems.
- Lead & Mentor: Spearhead network-related projects from conception to completion, collaborate with vendors, and share your valuable expertise with junior team members.
- Strategize & Document: Develop and maintain comprehensive network diagrams and documentation and play a key role in shaping our long-term technology roadmap.
QualificationsWhat You'll BringWe're looking for a seasoned professional with a blend of deep technical knowledge and strong communication skills.
- Proven Experience: A solid 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering, with a demonstrated history of managing complex network environments.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of Cisco routing and switching (Nexus, Catalyst), next-generation firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, or similar), and enterprise wireless technologies.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: An analytical approach to troubleshooting with the ability to diagnose and resolve intricate network issues efficiently and under pressure.
- Strong Communication: The ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and work collaboratively across departments.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. An equivalent combination of certifications and professional experience will also be considered.
Bonus Points If You Have:- Advanced certifications like Cisco CCNP/CCIE or PCNSE.
- Experience with SD-WAN technologies.
- Familiarity with public sector or government IT environments.
- Knowledge of cloud networking concepts (Azure, AWS).
