The Target Pay Range for this position is $31.92-$38.85 hourly. The full Pay Range is $24.76-$46.06 hourly. hourly.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:
As a Sr Mortgage Loan Processor, you’ll play a critical role in helping members move confidently through the mortgage lending journey. You’ll use your expertise in conventional, FHA, VA, Jumbo, and BECU portfolio loans to ensure files are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable requirements. Your attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to navigate complex loan conditions will help create a smooth experience for members and internal partners while keeping each loan on track for closing.
You’ll be trusted to evaluate documentation, identify and resolve conditions, manage critical timelines, and make informed decisions throughout the processing lifecycle. From reviewing automated underwriting findings and property documentation to completing BKI, COC, and Early Closing Disclosure requirements under TRID, your work will directly contribute to quality lending decisions and an exceptional member experience.
To join our dynamic team in this role, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, NC, SC, GA, or VA. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance to our Tukwila Headquarters (TFC), we encourage you come into the office on Tuesdays & Wednesdays each week. For those candidates that live outside the commutable distance to TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be primarily remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Protect the integrity of every loan: Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU competencies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.
- Keep files accurate and complete: Review Automated Underwriting System (AUS) findings to include all red flags, verification messages/approval conditions. Set up files on loan origination systems. Verify the accuracy and integrity of all loan data entered into the system including but not limited to names, addresses, government monitoring information, loan information (i.e. loan amount, interest, terms, lock-in expiration dates, etc.)
- Navigate regulatory requirements: Ensure regulatory requirements are met in processing approved, cancelled, and rejected loan applications while in processing status complete BKI review, COC and the Early CD on all loans moving to closing and subsequently moved for final disposition.
- Deliver TRID requirements on time: While in processing status complete BKI review, change of circumstance and the early Closing Disclosure on all loans pursuant to TRID.
- Manage commitment timelines: Meet all lock in expirations dates or process requests for extensions to the applicant's commitments in accordance with Credit Union policy.
- Keep members informed: Communicate with Loan Officers or Members to ensure member needs are met, provide them with overview of the process and inform the Loan Officer of information necessary to process loan.
- Keep documentation moving: Conduct follow up with outside sources for outstanding documentation to ensure receipt within turn-around time standards.
- Communicate decisions clearly: Complete a final evaluation and analysis of the completed loan file and either approve within delegated authority or send the electronic file for underwriting approval. Process the approved and rejected files by communicating oral and underwriting decisions and conditions to the Loan Officers promptly.
- Apply sound underwriting judgment: Employ prudent judgment to the process of loans utilizing Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter. Verify income and assets as required in the Desktop Underwriter verification messages and Credit Union policy. Review credit report as needed to address any inconsistencies identified in the Desktop Underwriter findings.
- Keep the pipeline on track: Manage pipeline to reflect accurate closing dates, pursuant to lock expiration, projected close date, appraisal due date, occupancy and state status.
- Evaluate property and title documentation: Review title prior to drawing documents to ensure all matters have been cleared and easements are within the investor guidelines. Review flood certification and analyze all documentation received and determine acceptability. Log documents into the computer system and indicate when condition is satisfied.
- Collaborate on solutions: Work with team in analyzing and solving situations that may arise in the mortgage origination loan process.
- Bring flexibility to the role: Perform additional duties, as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work or education-related experience.
- Minimum two years of experience as a mortgage loan processor or underwriter or equivalent with an emphasis on conventional, FHA, VA and Jumbo loan products.
Desired Qualifications:
- Completion of FHA CHUM’s and VA LAPP and SARR or equivalent seminars.
- Successful completion of courses and/or seminars relating to mortgage banking processing and underwriting.
- Comply with SAFE Act legislation, which requires annual registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
- Proficient math skills, with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes within working responsibilities regardless of whether the change is driven internally or by market or regulatory changes.
- Proficient PC skills (including mortgage software), with the ability to learn new software.
- Ability to perform in a multi-tasked environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks within stringent time constraints.
- Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.
