Full Job Description
The impact you'll make

The Semi Mechatronics Products (SMP) group produces critical mechatronics and Equipment Intelligence® products that support Lam's advanced semiconductor solutions. Located in Fremont, CA, SMP accelerates new product introductions, drives manufacturing innovation, and supports global production transfers. As part of Global Product Engineering's Mechatronics group, SMP delivers quality, cost efficiency, and scalable growth through operational excellence.

As Senior Manager, Operations, you will play a central role in strengthening how SMP plans, executes, and improves its operations. With Master Production Planning and Capacity Planning as the primary focus, you will help ensure demand commitments are translated into executable plans that reflect real constraints, risks, and tradeoffs.

In close partnership with the GM, you will work across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and finance to improve planning rigor, operational alignment, and execution predictability. Your impact will be measured not only by the quality of production plans, but by sustained improvements in delivery, efficiency, and operational readiness.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain the Master Production Plan (MPP), aligning demand with labor, equipment, material, and factory constraints. MPP is your primary focus.
  • Lead capacity planning across internal and external resources, highlighting constraints, risks, and tradeoffs that inform delivery commitments.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality planning outputs, including schedules, capacity visibility, and execution-readiness signals.
  • Oversee work order closure and inventory backflush, ensuring system accuracy and alignment with physical builds.
  • Drive forward-looking Clear-to-Build (CTB) analysis, providing visibility to material and readiness gaps across upcoming build horizons and supporting proactive mitigation.
  • Establish planning assumptions and production priorities in partnership with the General Manager and functional leaders.
  • Support escalation and resolution of planning conflicts through timely, data-driven recommendations.
  • Define and maintain core planning and execution KPIs (e.g., plan adherence, capacity utilization, CTB readiness).
  • Identify gaps between plan and execution and partner cross-functionally to drive corrective actions.
  • Assess operational risks and forecast outcomes, highlighting potential impacts to cost, quality, delivery, and scalability.

Who we're looking for

  • Minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 12 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience; or equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience leading or scaling production planning teams.
  • Exposure to rapid NPI ramps, manufacturing recoveries, or global production transfers.
  • Deep working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and planning analytics.
  • Background in scenario modeling, capacity analysis, and operational risk management.
