The impact you'll make

A Senior Manager in Engineering Operations strengthens GPE operational excellence by improving engineering processes, driving standards, enabling tool and system efficiency. In this role, you'll utilize an internal customer perspective to coordinate cross-functional teams of impacted stakeholders and manage projects to completion, both on time and within budget. You'll champion the adoption of modern engineering methods aligned with Lam's digital transformation strategy. You'll provide oversight to our India team, setting direction through roadmaps and annual goals and objectives, developing their capabilities, and ensuring the performance of the team. Your role directly impacts the productivity, efficiency and quality of the design engineering team. Candidate should be a result-driven, self-starter possessing strong interpersonal skills with a strong focus on supporting internal customers. This individual should also possess the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, to adapt to changing priorities and to work independently in a close-knit team setting.

What you'll do

  • Provide direction to the global team and assist in the development of skills, capabilities, domain knowledge, technical ownership, and hiring required to meet objectives
  • Continuous improvement. This includes all elements of the engineering development and release process from the tools used to communicate, to the engineering practices themselves
  • Develop evaluation methods to assess process strengths and identify areas for improvement
  • Work cross functionally to develop problem statements and align requirements and functionality with stakeholders to drive solutions
  • Create, maintain, and develop comprehensive process documentation and drive adoption
  • Create, present and maintain effective training
  • Present project plans to senior management, gain buy in, and deliver results
  • Manage CFTs with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities in both the US and India
  • Resolve escalations
  • Prioritization and coordination of engineering operations work with a global workforce
  • Represent GPE operational interests in corporate CFTs
  • Create, revise, review, release, and communicate engineering standards and best-known methods
  • Capture and publish tribal knowledge, working across engineering communities to improve consistency
  • Organize engineering information for fast discovery using SharePoint, Teams, or other corporate tools
  • Develop, evaluate and champion tools to improve the quality and efficiency of engineering work


Who we're looking for

  • Expected minimum of 12 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 10 years and a master's degree; or equivalent experience
  • Experience with engineering product development processes/best practices
  • Management experience
  • Design engineering experience, preferably in semiconductor equipment
  • Related experience with MCAD, preferably Siemens NX or PTC Creo, from part and assembly modeling to on-model annotations and (TDP) Technical Data Packages, to part fabrication and inspection or ECAD, preferably Zuken E3
  • Experience in analyzing data to draw relevant business conclusions and in data visualization techniques and tools
  • Skills in Excel are a must but demonstrable capability with QuickBase, SharePoint, Power BI, iPLM, TCPLM, SAP, Matlab, or other programming languages is a plus
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong leadership skills with applicable experience
  • Strong Influencing, negotiating and conflict resolution skills
  • Curiosity, enthusiasm for learning, and adaptability-especially around AI and corporate processes
  • Ability to engage engineering teams and drive positive cultural change
  • Process knowledge in PLM and ERP required
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • International travel expected
  • Other experience that would prove highly valuable: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Creating on-model annotations of sheet metal and machined metal, weldments, and large assemblies in support of Model Based Definition, modeling in NX 12 or newer, modeling in Creo 5 or newer, modeling in Zuken E3, 5+ years modeling experience, Product Configuration Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Intel Copy Exactly!, Field Service, Logistics/Spares, managing or collaborating with offshore engineering and support sites (particularly India remote teams), engineering knowledge sharing, documentation of Best Known Methods, engineering knowledge sharing, POA workflows

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $146,000.00 - $311,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
