The Opportunity:

As the Senior Manager, Construction Project Delivery you will be responsible for leading a team of Construction Project Managers to execute on approved construction projects across Canada, large and small. Corporate, Claims, Call Center and Advisor office locations will be undergoing consolidations and transformations across Canada, and this role will manage the overall construction workload, budgets, and schedules to ensure projects are delivered, on time, on budget and to plan. Enterprise construction projects nationally will support and align to the Real Estate and Workplace Strategy. The role will liaise with stakeholders from across the organization and report on renovation and construction projects. The role will build strong working relationships.

How you will create impact:

  • Support the AVP, Real Estate & Construction in the creation and delivery of strategic real estate projects nationally and lead a team of Construction Managers and
  • Project Specialists in the delivery of construction projects big and small.
  • Internal expert in identifying construction deficiencies for landlord work and our work, ensure team conducts necessary follow-ups until work is fully completed and all deficiencies addressed.
  • Manage the multi-facets of all construction projects including the creation or procurement of construction drawings, bid process, and permit applications.
  • Create best practice protocols and procedures for the effective project management of all construction nationally.
  • Accountable for overall project progress against milestones, budgetary compliance, and other KPIs.
  • Coaching and developing your team, recruiting and selecting talent, managing and rewarding performance, and fostering an agile culture to deliver on strategic objectives.

To join our team:

  • You have 7-10 years of experience in commercial construction, construction contract and vendor management and project management.
  • You have a post-secondary degree in Construction Management College Diploma or University Degree in Construction Management, Construction Project Management, or Architecture - Construction Engineering Technology.
  • You have at least 3 years of people leadership experience
  • You have experience managing commercial construction, tenant fit-up/build-out projects, and Construction Project Management within corporate office environments, including overseeing budgets, schedules, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • You have expert knowledge in reading and understanding contraction contract documents including specifications and construction.
  • You have strong ability to oversee and track progress on multiple projects simultaneously with competing demands.
  • Having a CCM (Certified Construction Management) certificate, Construction Project Management Certificate, CMA (Construction Management Association), C.E.T. or another provincial equivalent an asset.

What you need to know:

  • You will be subject to a Background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
  • Potential exposure to conditions that require health and safety protection, such as chemicals, noise, dust and debris.
  • Extended work hours, including weekends, may be required during peak periods.
  • You are required to have your own vehicle, valid driver's license and insurance for visits to project sites.
  • You will travel occasionally nationally within Canada.

Expected salary/hourly range $114,021 - $164,000+

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
