About the role:

The Senior Physicist, in addition to being capable of performing all of the functions of a Medical Physicist, provides
leadership in development and execution of program initiatives. While provision of specialized scientific expertise to
the cancer centre through the application of physics to medicine and engagement in routine clinical services,
radiation safety, education, research, and administration are fundamental, the senior physicist performs a
supervisory role in coordinating the advancement of clinical services and treatment techniques. As a consequence,
there is greater administrative responsibility and enhanced need for maintenance of strong academic and research
profiles.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
A Ph.D. in medical physics or related discipline from a recognized university, with a proviso that a M.Sc. in
medical physics may be deemed sufficient for exceptionally qualified individuals.
Membership in the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine with a preferred subspecialty of Radiation
Oncology Physics, or equivalent.
Fellowship certification by the CCPM, or equivalent, as demonstration of leadership and excellence in medical
physics is preferred.
A minimum of seven years of experience in a clinical radiation oncology environment.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff in a multidisciplinary health care
environment.
