Description

Join RK Mechanical as a Sr Estimator where you'll guide high-impact bids from concept to turnover, mentor a strong estimating team, and drive value engineering on complex projects. This role offers real influence, close collaboration with operations, and long-term growth within a respected, family-owned company known for safety, innovation, and career development.

Position Summary:

Provide mentorship and training of Estimators. Verify Estimating team is prepared for the bid. Pre-close bid tabs. Prepare trend pricing for projects in Preconstruction. Provide conceptual budgetary pricing. Coordinate and clarify scope internally and externally. Assist Preconstruction team during project turnover to Operations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Track productivity on past projects and follow up on past awards.
  • Fill in minor and major scope/design gaps.
  • Provide detailed breakouts for customers.
  • Provide extensive value engineering ideas.
  • Review all project documents and identify scope of work.
  • Material, labor, and equipment takeoffs.
  • Walk difficult projects.
  • Identify and document difficult/non-standard conditions.
  • Clarify scope with General Contractor and Engineer.
  • Obtain quotes and coordinate/qualify scope with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Completely assemble the bid tab in a timely manner.
  • Verify estimate accuracy by comparing data versus similar bids.
  • Liaison between Estimating and Operations.
  • Update database pricing.
  • Provide complete and accurate trade specific estimates.
  • Assemble bid tab with estimates and vendor/sub quotes.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • College/University graduate preferred with 10 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience with proven specialist expertise including fiscal responsibilities.
  • Independent decision making.
  • Responsible for a single department or functional area either as a manager or functional expert.
  • Initiates and maintains relationships with key staff and other departments.
  • Makes authoritative decisions and recommendations having important impact on activities of the company.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented complexities.
  • Determines program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects and developing standards and guidelines for diverse activities.


Minimum Physical Requirements and Accountability:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
  • Occasionally may need to reach, stoop, or kneel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Prompt, punctual, and regular attendance during core business hours, in an office environment (not a telecommuting position), currently located in Aurora, including a reliable means of transport to and from work. Ability to occasionally travel between corporate offices and jobsites within the Denver Metro Area, during work hours.
