Full Job Description
The Senior Mechanical Engineer at Piasecki Aircraft Corporation is responsible for leading the research, planning, design, and testing of advanced mechanical and aerospace systems. This role serves as the primary technical lead for Hydrogen Fuel Cell eVTOL and UAS engineering projects. The Senior Mechanical Engineer directs, coordinates, and participates in the systems engineering, design, fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical products and systems while assisting leadership in executing current and future hydrogen initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the design, analysis, and testing efforts for advanced hydrogen propulsion systems and related aerospace structures.
  • Serve as the primary technical lead for current and future R&D and development projects, assisting the Chief of Operations and Chief of Product in executing hydrogen initiatives.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including test plans, vehicle assembly procedures, and system validation processes.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical challenges related to mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain critical engineering deliverables such as designs, technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Perform static stress analyses on aerospace hardware and ground and test support equipment.
  • Coordinate and interface with external research partners and suppliers.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration and compliance with industry standards.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
  • Proven experience in mechanical design and system integration for aerospace applications.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems (e.g., SolidWorks, FEA software).
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:
  • BSME from a four-year college or university required.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working in an engineering environment or comparable field.
