Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will design and develop efficient and cost-effective power supplies per customer and regulatory specifications (i.e., sheet metal enclosures, stamped and extruded heatsinks, cable assemblies, molded enclosures etc.) including thermal/acoustic/vibration design and simulation, 3D board layout and prototype testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop efficient and cost-effective power supplies per customer and regulatory specifications (i.e., sheet metal enclosures, stamped and extruded heatsinks, cable assemblies, etc.) including thermal design and simulation, 3D board layout and prototype testing
  • Work in a team environment with hardware engineers, electrical engineers, firmware engineers, and program managers on product development of extensive scope
  • Utilize effective communication and team skills. Persuade and gain agreement with cross functional teams (hardware) and the ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels of an organization
  • Participate in design reviews to improve mechanical and thermal design
  • Exercise engineering judgment to select and develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to secure project success
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Interface with internal departments to ensure cost and schedule goals are met
  • Diagnose issues across design, field performance, reliability, and manufacturing test yields of existing power supply products using formal investigation methods, and recommend and implement corrective actions.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Location: Wilmington, MA
  • Environment: Standard office environment, possible interaction through a production factory environment; uses electronic equipment and can work with high voltage
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required
  • Onsite technical support at customer locations

EXPERIENCE:

Essential
  • 10+ years of experience with power electronics mechanical design preferably in SolidWorks
  • Simulation Package Expertise
  • Previous experience designing Safety and Compliance and thermals
  • Proven history of product development from concept through to production

  • Proven professional skill as an experienced engineer with an understanding of medical equipment
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems independently

EDUCATION:

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $110,000 to $150,000 per year.
