HOURGLASS COSMETICS - Sr. Manager, Visual Merchandising & Store Design (Hybrid Role)

The Senior Manager, Visual Merchandising & Store Design will play a leading role in the design, development, and execution of visual merchandising displays, store designs, and fixtures across multiple retail formats. This position is a vital part of the global design team and will ensure timely and cost-effective execution of design intent and technical specifications, while consistently preserving and enhancing the luxury Hourglass aesthetic. The Senior Manager will support strategic design initiatives, typical seasonal VM updates, and secondary VM projects, driving global design innovation while overseeing development and production with regional partners and local vendors.

As Hourglass continues to expand, the Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in establishing display standards and typical details to establish and enforce global design guidelines. This role will also ensure the seamless integration of artwork and typography assets within various retail fixture types and architectural settings, partnering closely with 2D designers to maintain consistency and brand integrity across the globe. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Partner closely with 3D design team to develop design concepts and renderings for multiple project types including secondary VM placements, specialty stores and fixtures, and new store designs (as needed) for review and approval
  • Collaborate with regional and cross-functional teams to translate marketing and commercial briefs into design solutions that deliver compelling retail experiences while preserving and strengthening the Hourglass brand identity
  • Support brand expansion across secondary retail footprints by developing designs, VM guidelines, specifications, and standards that ensure consistent execution across multiple fixture and installation types including outposts, podiums, pop ups, launchpads, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with multiple creative stakeholders across 3D, 2D Design and Brand Event Design, to develop cohesive design solutions that support campaign initiatives
  • Develop designs and 3D rendering proposals for presentation and approval
  • Liaise with VMSD Operations, Trade Marketing, and regional partners to clarify project objectives and create alignment on final designs
  • Partner with VMSD Operations lead to ensure timing and budget is met
  • Create DTO's for vendor turnover
  • Review and approve vendor technical drawings, material samples, and prototypes
  • Serve as a key liaison between Brand Events and VMSD Design team. Facilitate creative collaboration with design stakeholders to support holistic and consistent design approach across our key wholesale and secondary locations
  • Lead the development of visual merchandising guidelines and design standards that support brand expansion and global consistency
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive global visual merchandising guidelines that establish best practices for product presentation, fixture standards, seasonal updates, and consistent brand execution across all retail channels
  • Create and develop an organized library of visual merchandising and design standards for internal design collaboration. Document fixture drawings, planograms, and design assets to support consistency across all retail environments. Keep files labeled, organized, and updated on SharePoint and Asana
  • Own and manage multiple workstreams related to seasonal launches, maintaining a thorough understanding of project timelines and key milestones from planning through execution and launch
  • Lead the visual merchandising updates and execution for Global NYC Flagship location, ensuring an elevated client experience while showcasing seasonal launches, hero products and brand storytelling
  • Help ensure global planograms and other design documentations are approved and marked as final. Cascade and share files with teams via SharePoint and Asana
  • Work closely w/ VMSD Operations partners to communicate information regarding production timelines, graphics, shipping, and instruction sheets
  • Create technical drawings for product templates using Hourglass 2D and 3D standards, ensuring a cohesive and balanced product presentation
  • Collaborate with 2D team to support in die line creations and brief 2D teams for all creative/visual assets re: imagery, planograms and copy
  • Conduct site visits when required to oversee installation and ensure best-in-class execution
  • Perform bi-monthly store visits to document Hourglass displays and assess market trends in merchandising and design

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 6-8 years visual merchandising, retail, fixture design and/or related experience
  • Degree in product design, industrial design, architecture, engineering or other relevant educational experience and training preferred
  • Proven experience creating planograms, schematics or other planning guides
  • Proficiency in creating technical drawings to scale (Adobe Illustrator or additional CAD program a plus)
  • Proven experience with 3D development, from technical drawing review through prototyping
  • Proficiency creating 3D renderings (Sketchup preferred)
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, PowerPoint, Excel, Asana, MS Teams
  • Prestige/luxury beauty brand experience a plus
  • Portfolio with technical drawings and/or planogram examples required
  • Must be able to work from Corporate Office at least 60% of the time

The expected base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $98,000 per year. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget.

This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan, based on personal performance and company results.
