The Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting is a critical leadership role within the Revenue Accounting organization. Reporting to the Senior Director of Revenue Accounting, this individual serves as a subject matter expert on all revenue recognition matters under ASC 606, with direct responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of revenue. The role requires technical expertise in ASC 606, as well as hands-on proficiency with NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM).
Key Responsibilities & Duties- Own and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end revenue close process across all subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with ASC 606 and company revenue recognition policies.
- Perform detailed contract review and analysis for non-standard and complex arrangements including multi-element bundles, subscription renewals, and professional services milestones to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment and thoroughly document conclusions.
- Serve as the primary owner and administrator of the NetSuite ARM module, maximizing automation of revenue recognition processes and driving continuous improvements in system utilization, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Manage and maintain deferred revenue schedules, roll-forwards, and reconciliations across all subsidiaries, ensuring integrity of balances and supporting fluctuation analysis for leadership and auditors.
- Prepare and own revenue-related SEC disclosures, supporting quarterly and annual filings with accurate, GAAP-compliant footnotes, disaggregation of revenue schedules, and related narrative disclosures.
- Serve as primary contact for external auditors on all revenue-related matters, ensuring efficient, accurate, and well-organized audit support.
- Prepare and review technical accounting memos documenting the company's position on complex or non-standard revenue arrangements in accordance with ASC 606.
- Assess revenue impact and accounting treatment for new business initiatives including product launches, pricing changes, and go-to-market programs and operationalize them into scalable, automated processes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 1-3 revenue accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, FP&A, and Business Systems to provide revenue accounting guidance and ensure proper treatment of new contract structures.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA strongly preferred; Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience a significant plus.
- 7+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Significant experience in a public company environment, including demonstrated ownership of SEC revenue disclosures and external audit coordination.
- Deep technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP with expertise in ASC 606, including the ability to interpret and apply guidance to complex, multi-element arrangements.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM), including configuration, maintenance, and process improvement.
Desired Skills- Experience conducting or supporting Standalone Selling Price (SSP) studies for multi-element arrangements.
- Familiarity with SOX 404 internal controls in a public company environment, particularly as they relate to the revenue cycle.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical accounting concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-finance stakeholders across Sales, Operations, Legal, and Customer Success.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a track record of identifying automation opportunities and driving process efficiencies within the revenue close cycle.
- Ability to thrive in a remote-first environment with strong self-direction, communication discipline, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
The salary range for this position is: $128,000 - $160,000 + Bonus
