Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Product Development at BD will lead and manage a team of engineers and product developers responsible for the full lifecycle of complex Pharmacy Automation products, from concept to commercialization. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in innovation, project management, and cross-functional collaboration within the healthcare industry.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of multi-disciplinary product development engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple product development projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Drive the definition of product requirements, specifications, and design inputs based on market research, customer feedback, and regulatory considerations.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Medical Affairs to ensure successful product launches.

  • Manage and optimize the product development process, including design control, risk management, and verification/validation activities, in compliance with applicable medical device regulations (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).

  • Evaluate new technologies and assess their applicability to BD's Pharmacy Automation product portfolio, contributing to long-term product roadmapping.

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and performance metrics.

  • Champion best practices in design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability.

  • Present project updates, technical reports, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development within the medical device industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.

  • Strong understanding of medical device regulations preferred (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, MDR).

  • Proven experience managing the full product development lifecycle from concept to commercialization.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing engineering teams.

  • Excellent project management skills, including experience with project planning software and methodologies.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.

  • Experience with design control processes, risk management, and intellectual property.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 15%).

  • Experience in automation or robotics is preferred
