Job Description Summary

The Sr. Manager of North America Procurement, Transportation, will be responsible for building & leading Procurement for ~$350m in truck, rail & ocean freight expenditures across the North America business.

This role will serve as a key contributor to NA Procurement by establishing long-term & short-term objectives and strategies aligned with the company's mission and overall strategic goals related to growth, cost savings, supply continuity & risk management. This role will develop & execute a strategic vision for procurement to drive key CSP&L outcomes & will elevate Procurement's status by serving as a trusted partner/advisor to logistics operations & exceeding internal stakeholder expectations to earn the respect of senior leaders across the company.

In addition, the Sr. Manager will be tasked with acting as a change agent, furthering the deployment of best-in-class procurement capabilities that work for the business & governance structures where strategic sourcing is driven from a company-wide perspective. The role is expected to implement innovative improvements to transportation procurement procedures, processes & systems to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. Strong interpersonal skills & the ability to interface at all levels of the enterprise will be essential or this role to drive the intended organizational change.

Job Description
  • Optimize a $350m "book of business" toward company cost, quality, delivery & service objectives
  • Lead strategy development & deployment for North America transportation procurement requirements
  • Shift the sourcing process from transactional bidding to execution of a long-term, strategic plan that is aligned with key CSP&L & operating leaders
  • Oversee critical supplier negotiation strategy development & execution
  • Focus on delivering incredible customer experience, sensitive to the company culture & ways of working, valuing Lead stakeholder engagement, collaboration of teams, and supplier relationships
  • Lead global supplier relationship management (SRM) program.
  • Drive the continuous improvement process of network optimization for the distribution cycle
  • Lead complex sourcing efforts & negotiations with strategically crucial suppliers
  • Partner with stakeholders to create advanced category strategies that plan for strategic sourcing, value engineering & demand management opportunities
  • Focus on enhancing a 3PL/4PL model through out the supply chain with value creation tour customers.
  • Identify opportunities to extract additional value/innovation from the supply base
  • Passionately support ESG outcomes for indirect categories
  • Consult with Legal to enable negotiation of contracts in an efficient & effective manner
  • Contribute procurement performance & inflationary targets as part of annual planning cycle


Basic & Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in Procurement, Logistics, Supply-Chain or equivalent industry/subject matter
  • Experience in the Food Manufacturing Industry a plus
  • Bachelor's degree is required, Masters in a business-related field preferred
  • Demonstrated top performance in prior role(s) with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated management capabilities, especially related to leading strategic initiatives, driving performance, leading change efforts & producing superior results through sustainable collaboration
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, diverse teams & resources
  • Track record of transforming & or leading the continuous improvement of procurement
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, develop & retain top talent; a recognized leader & natural mentor
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP & related systems including, but not limited to, S/4 Hana, SAP Ariba & SAP Concur
  • Possess the ability & knowledge to negotiate, manage & enforce complex agreements
