Position Summary

Leads a support organization providing business management services, supply side analytics, budget development and performance reporting, generation production and performance analysis, O&M (Operation & Maintenance)/Capital project evaluations and employee development programs for Power Generation. Support of O&M (Operation & Maintenance)/Capital/Fuel projects, budgets, Latest Estimate, and Month-End for Energy Supply Market Operations (ESMO).

Tasks and Responsibilities

Establish and oversee the use of standardized processes and reporting consistent with business unit needs and performance requirements for Power Generation (PG)& ESMO.
Manage details of multi-million-dollar budget (headcount & labor, O&M expense, capital, fuels, and fleet vehicle/equipment) and Latest Estimate (LE) activities for PG & ESMO includes budget development process, recordkeeping, compliance, variance reporting and month-end close.
Works closely with supply chain and plant/ESMO teams to effectively control material procurement and inventory management processes and reporting.
Assists department management in developing, monitoring, and reporting on departmental level initiatives, goals, safety initiatives, and objectives.
Prepares monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc budget and business reports and analyses for senior leadership. Monitor incremental cost of generation to serve obligations with the use of optimization modeling software.
Manage the forecast of fuel consumption of generation units based on time spans that range from daily up to five years.
Study past periods of cost and fuel consumption and conducts data and output validation on a daily/monthly/annual basis.
Direct a team of business managers, analysts, technician, and clerical team, maintains policies/programs that define performance objectives for roles in assigned functional area, and technical direction for assigned programs.
Works closely with key stakeholders to ensure efficient information exchange and timely resolution of issues.
Establish reporting processes that clearly account for performance and provide transparency into the processes employed.
Conduct supply side analytics for power generation and monitor incremental cost of generation for the fleet.
Develop plant pro-forma financial statements and economic evaluations of O&M and capital projects.
Establish process for modeling and reporting unit asset valuation.
Manage business plan metric development, monitoring and reporting to Corporate Business Planning and leaders across the organization.
Create data validation procedures for power plant events and generation recording in Generation Availability Data System (GADS) and Margin Analyzer Systems.
Manages processes for modeling and reporting unit asset valuation; ad hoc analysis, resource plan development, and generation forecast; analyses on power plant cost and performance to support strategic energy planning initiatives; and reporting of EIA-923 and EIA-860 forms monthly and annual.
Maintain adherence to new and updated NERC-GADS and EIA regulatory reporting requirements for all power plants in the CPS Energy fleet. Oversee NERC GADS reporting and compliance with Data Reporting Instructions.
Develop, implement, maintain, and provide quality assurance for IT process areas supported which may include, but is not limited to, systems, tools, hardware, software, applications, databases, documents and records.
Oversee technology initiatives as they are related to PG's reporting infrastructure.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Bachelor of Science degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or another related field.
Demonstrated ability to manage commercial and technical oversight for multiple generation assets.
Extensive experience in power plant operations and/or generation market operations.
Possesses process discipline capabilities to drive standards, goals, metrics, and scorecards to drive consistent performance.
Ability to direct multiple activities in a highly dynamic environment that requires continuous re-prioritization as determined by operational and maintenance situations that arise daily.
Ability to effectively communicate with Power Generation & ESMO personnel and across other business units.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail & scheduling.
Must have favorable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Strong planning and analytical skills; ability to assess complex situations, make decisions and manage projects from start to a positive outcome.
  • Working knowledge of PI applications and Genrating Availability Data System (GADS) performance reporting.
  • Experience with model development, machine learning, programming, data science and/or advance analytic software.

Working Environment

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Employee may potentially be exposed to hazardous chemicals, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, noisy and dusty environment.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events.
After hours work is required to support plant operations and maintenance outage activities as needed. Weekend call duty rotations.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
