Step up as a tech leader and innovator with your knowledge and mentorship of security engineers. Lead teams to excellence in this high-impact role.

As a Senior Manager of Security Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Cybersecurity and Technology Controls line of business, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.

Job responsibilities

  • Provides overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level security engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
  • Be accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Lead all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including analyzing requirements, incorporating architectural standards into application design specifications, documenting application specifications, translating technical requirements into programmed application modules, and developing or enhancing software application modules.
  • Identify or troubleshoot application code-related issues. Lead code reviews to ensure solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications. Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary
  • Set the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration.
  • Lead design reviews by recommending ways to incorporate requirements into designs and information or data flows.
  • Anticipate technical dependencies with other teams to deliver engineering outputs in line with business requirement. Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team
  • Lead project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements and outline proposed solutions.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and the team's work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements.
  • Recognize risk in roles and operation, follow control procedure framework, execute root cause analysis on risk

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Security Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Experience running teams of software engineers, and ability to guide and coach teams to achieve goals aligned against set strategic initiatives
  • Hands-on experience developing in Java/Python/Go/React to automate task in AWS, determine risk of connectivity requests, and troubleshoot network connectivity in public Cloud environments
  • experience documenting implementation changes, operation support information and root causes analysis in Confluence
  • Collaborate with team members, vendors, customers, and stakeholders to understand to provide assigned engineering deliverables.
  • Troubleshoot and debug network, security & other software issues to propose and implement effective solutions.
  • Work collaboratively in an agile development environment, prioritizing tasks and delivering high-quality results.
  • Contribute ideas and solutions to network, security and software challenges, and actively participate in team discussions and code reviews.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical AWS cloud native experience
