DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Sr. Manager, Materials Management, located in Raynham, Massachusetts, Raritan, New Jersey, West Chester, Pennsylvania, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Warsaw, Indiana.


This role serves as the senior technology product owner for Materials Management capabilities supporting R&D and product development across DePuy Synthes. The position is accountable for defining product vision, driving digital enablement of materials and supply processes, and ensuring technology solutions align with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and end-user needs. This is a highly visible leadership role that partners closely with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT teams to deliver scalable, compliant, and value driven solutions and reports into the DePuy Synthes Technology organization. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and lifecycle for Materials Management technology solutions supporting R&D and product development. 
  • Partner with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing stakeholders to translate business needs into clear, prioritized product requirements and user stories. 
  • Lead the application of AI, advanced analytics, and automation to modernize R&D platforms, accelerating product development, improving scientific and engineering insights, and strengthening end to end decision making while enabling scalable, compliant, and efficient R&D operations from discovery through lifecycle management. 
  • Lead backlog prioritization, release planning, and value realization, ensuring alignment with enterprise digital and data strategies. 
  • Ensure solutions comply with applicable regulatory, quality, and data integrity requirements within a regulated medical device environment. 
  • Guide technology design decisions related to materials, specifications, BOMs, change management, and traceability across the product lifecycle. 
  • Collaborate with IT delivery teams, architects, and vendors to ensure scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions. 
  • Monitor product performance using defined KPIs and continuously drive improvements based on user feedback and business outcomes. 
  • Provide thought leadership and mentoring to product owners and cross‑functional team members within R&D Technology. 

Qualifications 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Information Systems, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline. 
  • Master’s degree (MBA or technical master’s) preferred. 

Experience and Skills 

Required: 

  • 8-10 years of experience in IT product management, product ownership, or technology leadership roles supporting complex business domains. 
  • Strong technical skills in enterprise systems supporting materials management, product data, BOMs, specifications, and change control (e.g., PLM, ERP, or related platforms). 
  • Demonstrated business skills translating R&D and supply chain needs into technology roadmaps, value cases, and prioritized backlogs. 
  • Experience working within regulated environments, with knowledge of quality systems, validation, and compliance expectations. 
  • Proven leadership skills influencing cross‑functional teams without direct authority and driving alignment across diverse stakeholders. 
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non‑technical audiences at all levels. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience supporting R&D, product development, or engineering functions within medical devices or other highly regulated industries. 
  • Familiarity with Agile and product‑centric delivery models, including backlog management and incremental delivery. 
  • Experience leading or mentoring other product owners or technology professionals. 
  • Strong analytical skills, including the use of data to measure product performance and drive decisions. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a matrixed, global environment. 

Other: 

  • Language: English required. 
  • Travel: Up to approximately 10–20%, domestic and occasional international. 
  • Certifications: Product management, Agile, or related certifications preferred but not required. 

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

122,000.00 - 245,000.00 USD Annual

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
