Job Description

What you'll do

  • Combines hands-on technical depth with strong business and leadership skills, personally engaging with the technical problem to understand and shape solutions rather than relying on the team to explain it, and communicates clearly with Engineers and Engineering Managers to align on business needs, objectives, and the technical requirements of products
  • Serves as a hands-on escalation point for production issues and off-hours support, able to dig into the technical problem directly, lead troubleshooting, and drive coordinated resolution
  • Personally engages in architecture, design, code reviews, and key technical decisions, going deep enough to understand the problem firsthand and inspire the engineering team through hands-on technical leadership
  • Partners with Business and IT leadership to set and drive a clear technical vision, strategic direction, and roadmaps across multiple engineering teams, ensuring alignment with business priorities and effective communication with stakeholders
  • Leads, develops, and mentors engineers and engineering leaders, driving technical upskilling across the organization to build the next generation of technical leaders
  • Supports self-governing engineering teams that are accountable for their own performance and delivery commitments, removing roadblocks and cultivating relationships across IT and at various levels of leadership
  • Responsible for budget management, forecasting, resource allocation, and long-term planning to drive alignment with business priorities

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 7+ years of experience participating in delivery of solutions using ITIL / Agile / XP, or similar methodologies
  • 5+ years of experience leading product teams


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • Airline industry experience, including engineering / business processes and supporting technology


Skills, Licenses & Certifications
  • Proven track record of hands-on technical execution: personally dives into complex engineering problems across the relevant technology stack, understands root causes, and drives them to resolution; able to reason about the technical problem directly rather than depending on others to explain it
  • Proven ability to inspire, motivate, and elevate a technical team through personal technical credibility and a consistently high engineering bar, leading engineers of varying experience levels through high-pressure production situations
  • Leads, influences, and upholds technology standards to ensure resiliency goals are met and continuously improved upon
  • Delivery leadership in an Agile environment: well organized, able to prioritize and run multiple technical work streams with minimal direction
  • Excellent communication skills to present to executive management and emphasize the intersection of business and technology
  • Project management skills to plan and deliver complex technical initiatives are valued, but secondary to hands-on technical execution
