AltaGas - Sr Manager, HR Business Partner

AltaGas is seeking a Sr Manager, HR Business Partner to serve as a trusted partner to senior leaders and help shape the people agenda across the business. Reporting to the Sr Director, Human Resources, this is asenior individual contributor role designed for an experienced HR professional who brings strong business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to influence at all levels. You will partner closely with leaders to translate business priorities into people strategies, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and support transformation initiatives.This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a consultative environment, balancing strategic thinking with practical execution and who is motivated by the opportunity to make meaningful impact across a growing and evolving organization.

What You'll Do
  • Build strong, trusted partnerships with business leaders and provide thoughtful, business-aligned HR advice
  • Translate business strategy into clear people priorities and actionable solutions
  • Advise on organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, succession, and team design
  • Coach leaders to strengthen engagement, retention, team performance, and leadership capability
  • Identify organizational, process, or people-related gaps, and recommend practical, integrated solutions
  • Partner closely with HR Centres of Excellence and Shared Services to deliver aligned and effective support
  • Lead and support key people processes, including performance management, compensation, talent reviews, and career development
  • Guide leaders through change by assessing impacts, supporting readiness, and building change leadership capability
  • Support onboarding and integration efforts for new leaders and employees
  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters with a balanced, thoughtful, and risk-informed approach
  • Contribute to broader HR initiatives and transformation efforts across the organization


What You'll Bring
  • 15+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including time in a strategic HR Business Partner role
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior leaders in complex, fast-paced, or operational environments (energy, utilities, or industrial settings are strong assets)
  • Strong capability in organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, succession, talent management, and employee relations
  • Proven ability to diagnose challenges and translate them into practical, business-aligned solutions
  • Experience working in partnership with HR COEs and Shared Services to deliver integrated HR support
  • Strong consulting, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
  • Sound judgment and the ability to navigate competing priorities and ambiguity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complexity
  • Experience supporting change, transformation, or organizational design initiatives is an asset
  • Knowledge of applicable employment legislation and HR practices
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
