Job Description

The Senior Maintenance & Engineering Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance and engineering functions within a 600,000 sq. foot cabinet manufacturing facility. This role focuses on optimizing equipment reliability, minimizing product cost, and maximizing manufacturing efficiency through the effective use of existing and emerging technologies. The Manager will develop, implement, and oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs, manage capital and improvement projects, and lead a team of skilled engineering and maintenance professionals. This role ensures all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with production goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime
  • Plan, schedule, and manage all maintenance and repair activities for facility and production equipment
  • Ensure rapid response to equipment failures and implement root cause corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and KPIs (downtime, MTBF, MTTR, etc.)
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce cost and improve manufacturing efficiency
  • Lead capital projects including equipment upgrades, automation, and facility improvements
  • Evaluate new technologies and manufacturing techniques to enhance productivity and quality
  • Partner with operations to optimize equipment performance and throughput
  • Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities are performed safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Lead safety initiatives, audits, and risk assessments within the department
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure proper training and adherence to procedures
  • Identify, select, and manage external vendors and contractors for building maintenance, equipment service, and capital projects as required.
  • Negotiate service agreements, scopes of work, timelines, and pricing to ensure cost-effective solutions
  • Oversee contractor performance to ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards
  • Partner with procurement and finance to manage contracts, renewals, and vendor compliance requirements
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets, including labor, parts, and capital expenditures
  • Coordinate with production teams to schedule maintenance work with minimal disruption
  • Drive lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators related to equipment reliability and efficiency
  • Support production goals by ensuring equipment uptime and capability
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Senior Maintenance Supervisor and all salaried and hourly engineering and maintenance staff
  • Build a high-performing team focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Drive engagement and foster a culture of ownership and operational excellence
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Details
  • Work Hours: Monday - Thursday; 7:00 am - 5:30 pm + frequent and required overtime during the week and on the weekends as needed
  • Pay Type: Salaried
  • Job Location: Kinston, NC (remote work is not an option for this position)
