The compensation range for this job is:
$117,046.00 - $160,007.00

POSITION SUMMARY

Directs and manages the team responsible for engineering and design of outside plant infrastructure for the ACS network. These functions specifically include tasks such as planning and preparation of drawings, design, posting of network records, validation of new and existing facility routes. Removal or rearrangement of existing overhead or underground lines, cables, and conduits. Focus on optimization of processes and procedures to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities.

Examples of Job Duties

  • Responsible for daily assignment and management of Outside Plant Engineering Team by coordinating staffing and planning to accomplish business strategies outlined by Sr Director, Network Engineering. Assist with setting expectations, direction, strategy, and work plan for OSP Engineering operations. This role is responsible for identifying resources, developing, and implementing programs to achieve business initiatives, and coaching and mentoring staff to their full potential.
  • Oversees the analysis of traffic loads, available and existing lines, and ducts, and estimating or forecasting of projected traffic to determine new construction or rearrangements and removals required.
  • Ensures that meetings are being conducted prior to implementation to ensure all aspects of the project are covered.
  • Develops budgeting for approved projects.
  • Supervises and provides quality audits over the performance and work of third-party vendors and contractors.
  • Reviews the selected routing of lines and equipment required for work projects.
  • Reviews detailed construction and installation drawings, estimates, equipment, labor, and material costs.
  • Leads the interaction with Sales, Service Delivery, Engineering, and other internal teams and government agencies to coordinate the implementation of special construction projects.
  • Leads and provides external coordination, as required, in the troubleshooting and resolution of fiber cuts and other OSP service affecting issues.
  • Develops and implements robust and sustainable facilities records processes with a goal of all electronic facilities records.
  • Approves material orders and equipment required and directs work activities to ensure conformance with engineering specifications and work authorization.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field, such as Engineering, Business or Construction. Equivalent experience may be substituted for schooling on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Six (6) years of telecommunications engineering/construction experience.

Computer Skills: Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access. Demonstrated proficiency using OSP Insight and AutoCAD.
